Not just a showman with lots of flash. Here he proves he can play with incredible sensitivity. When I was 5, he was a hero of mine.

He was just “magic” on the piano classics or anything else. Wish he could have lived forever!

What a beautiful job. One of the better performances of this piece I have heard. I always heard that Liberace wasn't all that good with the classics but I loved this one. My father loved this piece, and hearing it played so beautifully made me cry.

Well, he learned on the classics in his youth, and I'm sure he learned to play them well. But when it came to making a better living, becoming his family's main breadwinner in his teens, he learned that playing more modern, popular varieties of music simply paid better. 💰😁

You heard wrong. Liberace specialized in classical music. He re-arranged it for the particular audience he was dealing with.

Time does not detract from Liberace's Clair de lune at all. I enjoy it today as much as when I first heard it many, many years ago.

@@davidcarroll1883 that is very sad.smoking..!!! sure. I felt this man is trying to sublime the music during the playing.it is just as he is say:there is no fact just an interpretation. I have such pattern too when I play.🙏🍎🍎🍎 thanks a lot

@@ossianhaddod9065 : Liberace was gay. He kept his lifestyle rather subdued, unless he was making subtle jokes about it on the Johnny Carson Show. He died of AIDS.

the "mario lanza" of the piano. derided by the "know-it-alls" because he chose a career on television and film instead of the concert hall. that choice did NOT "change" his god-given talent.

Liberace is often, sometimes rightly, accused of hammering the keyboard. This is played with delicacy

My guess is that none of the replies I've read so far, have never heard Victor Borge at the piano play this wonderful piece.
@hildegardderbal59082 жыл бұрын
You are so right. Nothing matches up V.B.'s clair de lune, even in his advanced age.
@glenbreaks5448 Жыл бұрын
I listened to Victor Borge's version recently. The base was too strong in the second movement for my liking. It overpowers the melody line. Same with Liberace above. I prefer Pascal Roge's interpretation. I'm relearning this piece now and I also tend to get too strong with the left hand in the second movement. It is very difficult to keep it soft while giving it the tempo required. Pascal Roge does it beautifully. Something to strive for, not sure I'll get there.
