My "adopted" grandfather (pépé, it's a long story how that happened) that I never met, was a resistance fighter. His real name was Octave, but went by his code name André, even up until his death. His own sister turned him in to the Gestapo. And he was sent to a prisoner of war farm in western Germany. While there, he met his future wife Ursula (mémé) who was a Swabian from the black forest. After the war they weren't allowed to get married, some weird policy that was done right after the war of none of the French could marry any German, but they lived together in Germany and had 3 kids, then eventually they were able to move to Strasbourg, get married, and had 3 more kids. He past not long after the the baby twins were born. He had disowned his whole family that lived in Paris, and his German wife and mixed nationality kids all took on the Alsacien culture as their own.

Wow Nessy have you ever thought of being a history teacher? your really good at telling these stories of history in general. You love discovery and mystery of things and old history. I can see you taking your students on history tours and abandon buildings and seeing their perspective of things, the way you see it. I hope in the future you write a book of your own of the history of Paris even the ones that were hidden that's was not talked about. I learned a lot. Thank you!
