I just played this solo for my sophomore year in S&E, It was really fun learning this piece and I will always remember it, jumping from Ghost Garden to this was pretty weird and difficult but I managed and pushed through, thank you for making this recording of libertango, it helped a lot when I ran into some weird rhythms.

I more or less learned the chords and melody and played different variations on the chord and melody just to get it in my ear. Whilst doing this, I’d practice the pattern on just one set of notes and build it up slowly. Once I felt comfortable with the pattern, I added the notes to it. With the third iteration in the triplets that’s more difficult, it was a lot of solo and stuff like RH only practice and LH only practice. Just practice in a variety of ways and you’ll get it
@pixelmine2
@pixelmine2 2 жыл бұрын
@@tylergash3175 I know about 90 percent of the song. Just trying to work out the final part of that triplet part it is pretty weird. But honestly not too difficult. I did work on the pattern for a bit until I learned notes. The octaves aren't as hard as I thought and the 32 note part just came naturally after time. Really fun solo. Still got 2 months to practice it and get even better until state solo and ensemble!

Can this be played on a 4.5 octave marimba?
@Neatnate99
@Neatnate99 6 жыл бұрын
I played it on a 4.5 octave for an audition. It's definitely possible, you just have to change a few notes. There's no low E which is the worst part. I just changed all instances of a low E or lower to another note that fit with my ear and made it work for me. It's a really fun piece, and even more fun on an actual 5 octave

If you haven't found out, the answer is yes. The piece doesnt use the entire top octave, so you can simply move it up an octave. Note accuracy is harder with smaller bars and it doesn't sound as good, but it's definitely doable.

I've been using some Nebosja Zivkovics (the light blue NJ5s?)for this piece, and was wondering if I should use different mallets. My main problem in playing this is just general confidence and then the sextuplet into the damp band C part. (The very first one) Because the sticking then begins in a left hand lead and it's supr difficult to do the 32nd notes into the melody with this lead.
@goatmagic5220
@goatmagic5220 5 жыл бұрын
SkyrimRules599 this is SUPER late but I do I triple lateral there, so I’m playing the D, E, then back up to the B with all left hand so it still leads with right. It’s still very hard chop wise bc the fast interval change and triple laterals but it’s easier in my opinion than leading with left

@@goatmagic5220 hey so i was wondering on a scale of 1-10 how hard is this solo for a sophomore in high school
@goatmagic5220
@goatmagic5220 5 жыл бұрын
Daniel Davis I played it as a junior this year and it’s not too tough if you practice. All depends on your chops. If you’re triple laterals, double laterals, and octaves (mainly in right hand) are good and you have a good sense of rhythms you should be fine. The solo is deceptively repetitive in terms of patterns, so once you learn the first part of the melody you’re set, just gotta learn the middle section and variations of the pattern. It’s grade 5/6 on Steve Weiss, and it’s a undergrad piece typically, but it rly all comes down to how much you practice and how much you’re chops are developed. If you can play 32nd notes w 4 mallets at 150 bpm (for 1 beat or so) consistently you SHOULD have enough chops, just a matter of endurance
