Block o Butter I need to ask, why? Why not just leave without any reaction ( or just leave a comment “ ugh, the last note was petty”). Why? I know that you ended up NOT clicking dislike, but I must admit that UNLESS the video is controversial, presents aggression, offensive messages, opinions that one might disagree with - I tend to think of “dislikers” as hateful, sad, pathetic, jealous people. You don’t have to “like” it. In fact you might even hate the sound of marimba, but even in that case you should just go somewhere else and not click “dislike”. Otherwise what - roam around KZfaq disliking all the marimba videos??? Help me out if you can. Thanks.

Dawg that raised 6th isn’t even bad. It creates a kind of dorian sound (natural minor scale with raised 6th degree)making it kind of mysterious I love it. One could also argue melodic minor as there are some occurrences of a sharp 7th in this piece both of which combine to make melodic minor (natural minor scale with raised 6th and 7th degree /or major scale with lowered 3rd degree). Melodic minor doesn’t have to always have those 6ths and 7th raised it’s the artists choice of when to implement them

Hello. I'm in the marching band and I'm a marimba/xylophone/vibraphone player and I want to get better with my quad-mallet playing. I'm not that good but, could you tell me the best grip to use (I don't like it but I've been playing Stevens grip per instruction
@onlyAPBTs
@onlyAPBTs 7 жыл бұрын
For Marimba, always use the Stevens grip. Once you become proficient with it you'll never look back. Personally, I don't understand how anyone even manages to pull off a decent marimba piece using the Burton grip. Most Vibe players use Burton due to the different playing style; xylophone is usually a 2 mallet event, but if there is actually a need for 4, use the Stevens.
@Logaddi
@Logaddi 6 жыл бұрын
Look Stevens is the best grip to go on Marimba. But don’t be scared to try other grips like Burton, Traditional, etc. while some people will Tell you to use burton for vibraphone, use whatever grip you are most comfortable with. Granted at a younger age, all grips will be uncomfortable because they’re all unnatural. But if you’re a beginner, learn Stevens. Purchase Method of Movement for Marimba, by Leigh Howard Stevens. That’s how I learned and perfected my grip.

I guess in 6 years you had the time to decide, but I feel like you have to choose what you feel the better with. For example I play burton grip on marimba for 5 years now, and I've never felt so good. But I know traditional grip like Vassinela gives you so much better sound imo you gotta try for yourself what you feel the most confident with im curious, what have you chosen now ?
@christianboi7690
@christianboi7690 8 ай бұрын
@@citronah ah. Okay. So I’ve been going through college for a while now. I haven’t played any mallet instruments that often. I still fiddle with them when I have the opportunity, though. I sort of stuck with Steven’s grip, I guess. I’m pretty comfortable playing chords with it. Actually the very first time I played the vibraphone I was forced to play a bunch of chords at awkward angles within a very short time frame. So that was a sink or swim experience I guess. It was fun though. I’ll probably buy a marimba and mallets to practice at home when I finally have a disposable income, but for now Im too stressed to dedicate too much time or money to that. My main issue has always been with speed and control of rotation to play individual notes with each mallet. I’ve gotten better, but I still wouldn’t consider myself super proficient. I still prefer playing with two mallets when I’m playing a bunch of notes in quick succession. Thanks for your interest.
