Was there in the summer of 1958. Went beaches near Tripoli and Whelus field air base and the British army beach which I think was at at a place called kilo 13. Also rode polo ponies at the Royal Engineers remount depot. Fabulous!

I agree with dooli1981. I spent 4 weeks on the libyn coast in 2001, I've only seen plastic bottles everywhere, billions of plastic bottles. I was wondering why this happen and why nobody cleans the beaches... So, you've got some of the most beautiful areas on the Mediterrean Sea but these plastic bottles are distrying the ambience. Maybe now, 8 years later, the situation has changed...?
