As an American youth of the Hughes era, I was knocked out by the film "Some Kind of Wonderful", not alone there. I ended up going on a semester abroad to the University of Swansea, Wales, in 1988. It was lovely, by the way. Saw a flyer up in one of the pubs on campus about Lick the Tins playing the next night in a glorified tea room in one of the Uni buildings. YES. It was a triumph for a music geek.

Wayne Woodhouse the 80s were magical, they're unappreciated, in music and movies. The emotions created with this movie in conjunction with the soundtrack made it look as it they were made for this movie, amazing. When mary stuart masterson starts banging on a car with her drumsticks, or when elias koteas says "welcome" cuing billy idol's catch my fall, its perfect.

In reference to the movie 'Some Kind of Wonderful': fabulous placement of this song at the end. Brilliant and quirky just like Watts! Each time I hear the song, I hear Watts' heart drumming the part... so I like that the song begins with the drum and tin whistle. Awesome every time!

+dean robert99 It was just perfect placement of this song. I'm 40 years old, and just watched the movie with my wife who had never seen it. Song is now stuck in her head.

Same thing at the end of "the Snapper", brilliant with the drums and pipes as the whole family come to see the baby for the first time, with the girl drum major taking the lead. Gets to me everytime I watch it, very sweet scene in a fantastic movie.

What a classic, I LOVE this song. And The Snapper, pure class. Memories of watching it on video at Uni up in Coleraine in the mid 1990's. Best quote: 'What if it's a girl, and it looks like Mr. Burgess? ' Genius!

heard this at the end of Some kind of wonderful, great film, wish i had a best friend who was a girl like her, grow up together type deal,it's so hard to figure out ppl when they are older but if u know them from young u sorta have that insight into who they truly are b4 they become adults;cuz ppl change, become less fun,but if u knew them from young u can bring the old them back if for only the times they spend with you
