​Big things are happening in Rostock: Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock GmbH is lifting a 1,400-tonne component at a height of 40 metres and placing it with millimetre precision on the pillar of one of the world's largest offshore cranes. Disturbing factors such as wind, rain and fog cannot be used. Especially since this lift onto the "Orion" is a real world premiere. It is the first major work assignment of the TCC 78000. With a maximum lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes and a double trolley driven by ten engines each, the new gantry crane from Liebherr is breaking new ground in maritime crane technology.

Nur wer nichts macht, macht nichts falsch. Finde ich auch super, dass das video noch da ist. Zu seiner Arbeit stehen, auch wenns mal nicht alles funktioniert - das zeigt Verantwortungsbewusstsein. Fehler anzuerkennen ist um Welten schwerer, als Erfolge zu feiern. Das werden die Lästermäuler in der Kommentarsektion nicht verstehen.

And as you point out turning resources into waste and pollution instead of something worthwhile . So true. The amount of times you buy a 6 dollar cheese grater in your life only to have it fold into a .5mm mess of cheap steel far outweighs the cost you would incur to buy a nice american version. Those tiny incremental low cost purchases dont add up in your mind the same way a larger purchase would. Its like acting on your primal instincts to milk you for money

I live here and see that thing daily. The hook just broke. Liebherr did everything well. But now thousands of hours of work and materials are garbage, cause a fucking hook broke 🤦🏼‍♂️

@@fuoco13 Made in Holland, as far as I know, I myself work for a lead crane building company among other things and last week our engineers tested a 2500 ton crane hook, they did it inside in our shop with an overload I think 800 ton it took them around 10 days because they could only test 2 hooks at one time and this one has 4 hooks and using a special jig and four jacks, after test everything was researched using the US for cracks and deformation. That Liebherr hook was never properly tested I mean it failed at half the intended load and Liebherr should know better tbh and do hook test themself.

If it's investigated as Marine Accident, the Report will be published. All Marine, Aviation, and Rail Accident Reports are public in Germany. Dunno about Industrial Accidents, the Orion 1 Collapse might either be considered as one.

Liebe Kollegen von Liebherr: Es ist schön das ihr eine funktionierende Marketing-Abteilung habt diesich richtig ins Zeug legt. Es ist nur ärgerlich das ausgerechent bei diesem Projekt etwas schief laufen musste, aber wie sagt man so schön? Hinterher ist jeder schlauer. Und genau DAS sieht man leider auch in den Kommentaren: Gefühlt jeder zweite Kommentator hält sich für einen Kranspezialisten und Schadenfreue ist und bleibt eine der schlechtesten Eigenschaften der Menschheit.

I hear the crane did not fail, apparently it was only the hook. The hook is part of the crane, in this case so is the ship. All the parts work together in lifting the load. Or not lifting it.

Wenn der gebrochene Kranhaken ein zugeliefertes Teil war, hat Liebherr keine Schuld. Trotzdem wird die Versicherung viele unangenehme Fragen gestellt haben.

And while a huge crane like this "brakes" the record in lifting capacity as i understood at least , ancient civilizations were capable of lifting megablocks weighing more than a thousand tons or even double that without even using a crane . However it is impressive to say the least for our era to achieve such task !
