I just viewed a FB card groups posting that referenced your YT channel. I’ve watched two and am now your newest subscriber. We are currently on the road from GA to Wisconsin to visit family for the holidays. Our trip was delayed due to the winter storms but the car ride gives me time to watch tutorials while DH drives. Now I wish I had brought my paints to use while there. Merry Christmas!🎄

Thanks for this video! I've been binge-watching your Christmas videos for inspiration to make my own cards this year. This twig wreath has inspired me to paint a twig wreath that I made last year from an upcycled wreath and painted pine cones. I'm going to try and paint it from one of my images from the blog post tutorial I wrote. I'm so excited! You've inspired me to do this so thanks so much! I'm off to watch more on your channel!

@@lieslsartisticstudio Merry Christmas to you as well. I love watching you paint. Do you use tube paints and mix it with water to the consistency you want or do you use like liquid watercolor or something like that?

Yes, it is just tube paints mixed with water. In these older videos I created, it was easier for me to just have my paints ready and mixed for recording, but my more recent videos I just paint and mix straight from my palette. Gorgeous! For the darker value berries, did you mix another color with the red to darken it? Thank you!

Thanks for your question! For my darker berries I am just using a higher concentration of paint (cadmium red) and less water, the red circle I paint initially for the berry is a little thicker, and then when I rinse and dry my brush, I have very little water left on my brush to spread the paint. With the lighter berries I paint a thinner circle if cadmium red, and I leave a little more water in my brush so it will water the paint down more. If that doesn’t work for you, you can make a darker red for the darker berries by mixing Cadmium Red with Paynes Gray, or Alizarin Crimson, or even both! hope this helps! Happy Painting! 😊

The red is called Cadmium Red, the green is called Sap Green, and the brown is Burnt Umber mixed with a little bit of Paynes Gray. These colors are pretty and bright. My camera and lighting may change the look of the painting slightly, but the painting in the tutorial is very similar looking to the actual painting. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching! 😊
