Hi, thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I was on Accutane for 3 months and had to discontinue due to the side effects I got. On the first day of taking this drug, my sex drive dropped to 0. Then I started having severe back pain, dry skin, chapped lips, but I kept reminding myself that these were all temporary. My dermatologist was telling me that all side effects are ‘temporary’ and I don’t have anything to worry about. On the 3rd month, I started having severe headaches, I was angry all the time to the point I felt like I can kill somebody, I couldn’t even walk for long and developed tinnitus which still persists after 2 months of quitting Accutane. On my 12th week I had photosensitivity, painful sensations around my face and my face was extremely swollen, I felt like I had pressure in my head. After taking Accutane I started experiencing menstrual irregularities and now I have to consult with many doctors to solve these issues if there’s such “recovery”. My face isn’t swollen anymore, I’m experiencing sexual dysfunction, absent periods, tinnitus, headaches, joint pain, neck and back pain,brain fog, anxiety which crippled me with my studies. Doctors don’t want to believe these things resulted from Accutane. They look at my blood tests and say that I’m all healthy. I just want to say that you’re doing a good job spreading awareness here. I don’t even think this drug should be legal since my blood tests were all “good” but It has destroyed my health still.

I am in the same boat as you. It's been more than 6 years. I could not recover. Most of this happened to me. Period irregularities corrected after 6 months. Brain fog slightly improved take B complex and D vitamin everyday and drink more water. For sex drive take Ashwagandha. However i developed gut issues, insulin resistance and my eye power worsened

I'm glad I never took accutane. I was tempted to because I was desperate but I knew about horror stories even 20 years ago. I'm 37 and I still have some acne, but that's nothing compared to having permanently dry eyes, lips, skin, and having endocrine damage! Now my oily skin keeps me looking young and I never need lotion or eye drops even when I wear contact lenses, and rarely need lip balm. Thanks for sharing your stories. More people need to know.

You’re giving into the propaganda from guys like this who made money from scaring people. Accutane is not a choice for most people. We would not be alive without the wonders of accurane. This guy said himself he didn’t even need this medicine, so he took a medication for vanity reasons and not because he had such horrific acne that it was painful and dangerous in regards to skin infections from acne.

Thank you for speaking about this! I think it has become way too popular a drug and there are people who say the side effects are only "temporary" but the real question is, who would invest in a large study of the long term effects? The lack of "evidence" for long term effects is more of an indication of a lack of interest in researching it comprehensively, than an indication of the medication being harmless in the long term... and people often forget it's also chemotherapy drug!

I took it for a year when I was 17. Thats when my life flipped upside down. I'm 23 now and my hormones are completely screwwed up...I have had so much blood work done in the past few years trying to figure out why I'm so depfressed and anxious because I refused to go on SSRIs... Turns out I have a the testosterone of a 90 year old man and the rest of my hormones are completely out of whack... hopefully my endocrine system will heal and things will return to some semblance of balance, but I'm not holding my breath. Thank you for sharing your story, I hope others will see this before they begin this medication.

The criminal/nightmare part for anyone undergoing Accutane treatment is if they are not given informed consent about what It can do while on it and the side effects it has. This was my experience; not being informed. The best line in my opinion is when you said there "is still a lot of life left to be lived." That is how I feel, even though I feel as though I'm 60 already. There are many ways to heal a leaky gut and it is through food and nutrition like you mention. I read that bone broth , which I love in pho can help heal a leaky gut. Basically after Accutane you have to pamper yourself so you begin to be able to manage the damage. Homeostasis is the body's normal state and it wants to return to it when off balance, you just need to feed it properly, especially after this drug. I'm sure the liver can use some detoxing and I hear milk thistle is great for this.

Maybe I can help you, I have a similar horrible story for 3 years. I have problems with ligaments, problems with the gastrointestinal tract, as well as psycho-emotional. Pay attention, does the deterioration of health (depression, anxiety, agility) appear after eating fatty foods? Eat 5 fried eggs and watch how you feel. Eggs are vitamin A, accutane is a synthetic vitamin A that accumulates in the body and is excreted in the bile when eating (fatty) food and also when taking vitamin A-containing foods.

I took accutane when I was 18 because I had severe acne. I'm pretty sure that happened because I played 3 sports in high school. Ever since I got off of it, I have felt sluggish despite eating right and working out on a daily basis. My sleep is very inconsistent as well.. but even when I get an adequate amount of sleep, I still feel tired. I recently ordered a natural vegan testosterone booster that contains ashwaganda and other nutrients like iron, but now I'm starting to think I may have long term side effects from accutane. Reflecting back, I was perfectly fine before taking accutane from an energy standpoint.. now I'm 23 and haven't felt the same since.. I have yet to receive the supplement yet because it's in the process of being shipped, but I'm now convinced my problems have persisted all due to accutane.

I suspected that this drug has left long term effects on me. I took this drug near the end of 2021 after struggling with acne in highschool and still struggling with it up to that point. I ignored the side effects and signed the waiver. Everything went fine until the last month of me taking it. I developed severe depression and anxiety and as well as what you described as “glass half empty” outlook on life. This eventually led me to quit my dream career which I was in for almost 2 years. I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety ever since and have been in and out of jobs constantly. I also refuse to leave my house unless I absolutely have to. A lot of times I won’t even get out to spend time with friends and family. I feel I’m missing out on life and I feel like this drug ruined my life.

Hey I'm finding your channel only now. I'm an experiencer and a PAS victim too. It eventually got better sort of between 12 years and 15 years after taking accutane. What helped me primarily was setting, from taking an advice from another PAS sufferer, for an almost totally non-Vitamin A diet. It's not a problem, you don't need actually to eat vitamin A for bodily functions (you can produce your own in your body as long as you have a good diet overal). Surely you'll find yourself somehow weaker overall from this, but inside you'll feel a starting change for the better -- this is the body repairing assimilation pathways for vitamin A, since they've been fucked up by isotretinoin. Don't know if you tried that in your diet experiments ; but if you're still struggling with your problems, maybe try this ? It might be helping the isotretinoin related long -term effects at least. In my experience, it even lead ultimately to getting out of depression (to be clear, counseling and analysis were needed too, but I believe the low-vit A diet was determinant).

It amazes me that Dermatologists prescribe this so readily. Mine did without even exploring dietry changes and didnt mention one single side effect. When I told her at my follow up visit I'd had some terrible side effects, extremely dry cracked lips, peeling skin, dark under eye circles, lethargy, on only 5mg a day, she was shocked and proceeded to prescribe isotretonoin and mynocycline on alternate days, double the risk! My problem is I like the results but after hearing stories like this I really feel like dietvand lifestyle changes might be a better way to go.

Experiencing psychological problems and thyroid issues after taking accutane does not mean that accutane caused those problems. You are confusing a suspected correlation with causation. The mood issues could have developed spontaneously later unrelated to accutane. The thyroid issue that developed “years later” may not have anything to do with accutane at all. And this is the fundamental flaw and danger with self-diagnosing.

I have used acutane before and experienced the stomach issuea which went away after a few years. In my case it did not affect sex life as a matter of fact quite the contrary. A lot of what you are experiencing happens when people worry to much. The one and only aide effect that bothers me even 20 years after is cheek redness which i see you have aswell however you didn’t mention it as a side effect but it is. My best advice “stop worrying “ i know now you will worry about worrying….be careful, that generates anxiety and a whole lot of problema.

You win the award for the dumbest comment so far, ha ha. Suggests you don't understand what 'general anxiety' is. Incidentally, I don't have it anymore, and I didn't have it when I made this video. The cause was chronic inflammation, which went away when I removed inflammatory foods from my diet. Depression and anxiety are most caused by systemic inflammation, not a 'chemical imbalance' or simply worrying about stuff.

Did the doctor test your anti thyroid antibodies? Your experience sounds like what I have, which is Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. I never took Accutane (I’m just in a weird KZfaq rabbit hole), but Hashimoto’s is often triggered by heavy drugs like that. If you have Hashimoto’s, taking thyroid hormones can help a lot; if you also have leaky gut, like I do, you can take T3, which is more active within your system and doesn’t have to go through the absorption process so extensively. I take both T4 and T3.

Also, he mentioned later that he experienced jerking movements on his both arms while on accutane once or twice. He took it for 7 months when he just turned 14. Now, I am afraid that this medicine affected his brain chemistry or sth. Because he experienced tons of side effects at that time (depression, anxiety, irritability, mood changes, dry lips, dry eyes, photo sensitivity). Nonetheless, the specialist told that the mental changes are not related to accutane, it is just as your son acts in his teenage years.

@@147alexandr The dermatologist prescribed me 400mg (10-40 daily allowances) of tocopherol acetate (vitamin E) in the morning after a meal, and 10000ME (three drops - the daily allowance) of retinol palmitate (vitamin A) in the evening after a meal. He wrote it to me when I practically yelled at him that I was very bad, the dermatologist said that it was "for the skin." Interestingly, small doses of vitamin E help the absorption of vitamin A, and large doses of vitamin E prevent it from being absorbed. It is very likely that she was trying to get it out of me, and then replenish the vitamin A removed along with isotretinoin. After drinking 400mg of tocopherol acetate for a month in the morning after a meal and 10,000 ME (three drops) in the evening after a meal, I felt noticeably better, the fat content returned, the ligaments hurt much less , The digestive tract works much better, the mood is sometimes bad, but better than it was. I'm 37 and have been on accutane for only 10 days. However. I have had IBS my whole entire life. I also have extreme anxiety and depression that I have been on medication for over 15 years for. Which does cause a brain fog. I also have arthritis in my spine and hips and knees and hands. I have had 0 sex drive for almost a year because of an IUD I got to try and get rid of my acne. So I guess what I'm asking is. As someone who is already experiencing all of these things before accutane. What makes you belive that accutane has caused all of these current health problems your experiencing?

Deeter Ball Because I had none of these problems prior to taking the medication, they all began to manifest immediately after. You need a strong colon cleanse. Accutane wreaks havoc on the G.I tract causing you to accumulate a lot of toxins and fecal matter. It dries everything up. The colon is the body's sewer and everything that doesn't get eliminated is reabsorbed in the blood sending toxicity to all organs. The weakest genetically organ falls first. In your case it is the thyroid that absorbs the toxicity originating from a very dirty sewer (colon). Start juicing ASAP (celery, carrots, green leafy vegetables) and consume a raw whole foods diet. Also depression is a byproduct of a compromised G.I tract since most of the serotonin and dopamine is produced there. I also took Accutane for 10 months straight.

I already have those mentioned side effects before isotretinoin: chronic fatigue, joint pain, chapped peeling lips, digestive issues (have oily skin though). Although issues were caused by antibiotics. I doubt isotretinoin would cause digestive issues though, usually something that upsets the microbiome would cause that like antibiotics or food poisoning
@lifeafteraccutane2173
@lifeafteraccutane2173 10 ай бұрын
There's more to digestion than just the microbiome. Isotretinoin affects the liver, gallbladder, and bile production. Bile plays an essential role in the function of the digestive system. A quick bit of online research will confirm this.

Secondly, this was 4 years ago, a lot has changed since then. This video was intended to warn others about the effects of this poison, not for anyone to feel sorry for me. If my warning stops one teenager from taking their own life it's done it's job.
