how long typically do you let the hydocal set? Any danger in leaving it in alginate for a longer hour? Over one hour?

can resin be used in alginate? looking to make a fake version of my hand ! plaster would not be durable enough:)

I'm by no means a professional, but I'd use a latex skin filled with foam. I've never worked with alginate so I don't know how that works with latex casting.

My understanding is that you would need to use a fast curing resin and it is still tricky (timing wise_ as the alginate would be cooked by the heat coming off the curing resin and this would affect the mold, also the mosture in the algniate can effect the curing of the resin. . You can use body double silicone (or similar to make the mold), and that could handle the resin (as I understand), Or you could just use silicone instead of resin.
