Oh Nikki, I loved this video so much. I have a lot of respect for you! Caring for your family and mother and grandfather and grandmother is a big, big task and then your side-businesses and KZfaq. I really look up to you for being such an example of a Proverbs31-woman. You look beautiful in your dress and apron. I did love the style of video also. So calming and you've put so much work in it. I'm a Christian mom of 5 children and I live in the Netherlands, Europe. I can relate to you on so, so many things (even our husbands look like brothers and have the same character-traits, LOL) and I thank you for being my youtube-friend and sister in Christ. Your love for Him shines trough it all. May God bless you abundantly with His grace, comfort and love. He alone is enough!! Greetings from the Netherlands (and sorry for spellingmistakes :)) (Oh and I'm coming from the Daily Connoisseur, which I love also)

The mother of a friend was tired of unappreciative children so she said she would not cook for them. She went on strike for a whole year during which time her husband and nine children had to do all the meals themselves. They divided the days up so Father took them out every week. The younger children made packet macaroni, you get the idea. When she took up cooking again they were always sure to thank her for preparing their food not only for fear that she would go on strike again but because they understood how much work it involved.

My brother one day gave bread and water for lunch to his kids who were complaining "mashed potatoes again". They still remember that lesson up until this day.

I remember going through mom burnout years ago when my children were young. I prayed and cried about it to God. My answer to prayer was a broken leg. I had no choice but to sit and relax and do zero cooking, cleaning, laundry, driving etc. My husband and children learned quickly to appreciate me and all I do. I also learned an important lesson, I learned my kids were old enough to pitch in and help. My husband didn't like doing it all by himself so he got the kids pitching in. Also, Gods timing was perfect. I broke my leg about May. Any other time of year would have been horribly inconvenient and God knew it. To this day, my hubby helps with cooking and cleaning. God is good.

Your words about your mother😢 yes it is truly a blessing to have a parent. I love the pace of your life I feel like you are super busy, however you make it look so peaceful and your gratitude for what you 'get' to do vs what people feel they ' have' to do completely changes the mentality of the love you do it with and personally I think it contributes to the beauty that radiates from your persona that truly comes across in your videos.

Procrastination can be an issue when perfectionism exists. I say this with sympathy as I’m a ‘recovering perfectionist’. After a life changing illness I made a conscious effort to rid my mind of perfectionism and instead ‘near enough is good enough’ - it wasn’t easy but it really helped my mental health. Occasional relapses but I’m more relaxed these days :)

What a beautiful season you are in. When I got married we moved out for about a year then moved back to my childhood home where I was born. My parents had a separate apartment from the house. It was a blessing for all of us. Our 2 boys loved being so close to them. I remember many weekends my husband would do the yard work for them. My dad would come home and make lunch for me. I could go on and on about the memories we created. I loved to cook for them, I would go in and clean the house just to help them out. It was a blessing both ways. After a few years there we moved to from NY to NC and my parents moved about a year later. Unfortunately, my Dad passed away just a few months after them buying their beautiful home and my mom passed also ten years later. They were very young in their 60's. I cherish those memories so close to my heart. Thank you for this video it really brought back so many wonderful memories of my mom and dad.

She died at 64 yrs old. It was hard. My mom didn’t drive or ever got her drivers license (I am her only daughter) so I took her everywhere and tried to serve her best I could. I miss helping her, I miss serving her I miss her dearly 💜 I’m happy you’re cherishing your mom and grandparents it’s very admirable. Thxs for sharing with us 😀

Wow Nikki! This video had so many layers of depth. Before you said you are making changes to your videos by narrating, I thought wow you can see how much she loves her mothers by hearing you speak about her. I can hear the emotion by just your voice if that makes sense. And little Aria doing laundry that was a moment as well. You’re blessed to have all these videos of your precious family. You’re a fantastic mother. If you are ever in need of a walking partner, I’m here.

Nikki, I love how you always are so respectful of your kids and their privacy, showing only clips of moments of kind instruction. We get a civilized peak into your family life, but nothing that should remain private. I am always sad when I see mothers expose their children in moments a guest in your home shouldn't see. You keep the focus on you rather than your kids. As it is your channel. That said, I think it shows a lot that your more recent videos have shifted more towards you. It shows their independence and agency as they grow from children to young adults. Keep up the great work!

Your comment was very special to me Ashley, thank you for taking note of that. Over the years I have definitely learned a lot and especially as a mother how important it is to protect our children and what we put out there for the world. I don't feel I've always gotten it right but I'm open to changing things that I need to. I've listened to convicting discussions on other channels about this subject. I think there is so much to be gained by keeping the focus on us as mothers and wives and caretakers and daughters etc. when it's our channel and it's unnecessary to include every little thing of our lives to get the point across. Anyway, thank you for your encouragement, I needed to hear it.

Egg and lettuce sandwiches!! Hard-boiled some eggs, then after you've shelled them, place them in a bowl and add some mayonnaise and with s fork smash the egg and work in the mayonnaise. This was such a nice vlog and I can relate to a lot of things in your video. My kids are teenagers and when they were 6 or 8 I taught them to do their own laundry. It really paid off and less chores for me. I do a weekly dinner list for the whole week and I have each one of my family choose something they like for me to make since they’re very picky. It helped me out a lot and they like to cook along.

Love your dress, you look so pretty and feminine. Who was your mentor growing up. Who taught you how to be so graceful? I think it is good to help your children to be independent. I always did it all for my children, but when I think back I was always so exhausted, and wish I had them do more for themselves. One thing I did do that I am very proud to say is that I taught my children to always be humble and kind to others, and never make fun of anyone ever. I have to say I have the kindest ,thoughtful, adult children that you will ever meet, and very proud of them both. Where did you get your pretty aprons? So sweet to watch your children cooking with you with your pretty aprons on. Thank you for your great video, love the music in the background, very peaceful.

Thank you Margaret! I had a very graceful stepmother and older friend I always learned from. That’s wonderful that you instilled those qualities in your children. I found the floral apron from TJMaxx and the others at Ross. I’m so glad you enjoyed this!

You know, when your life is ended and you have passed on, your children, their children and on and on, will have a whole lot of video demonstrating that you spent your life loving them, every day. It will be a huge comfort for them. I don't mean this to be depressing, it's just that I wish I had that with my mum. Xxx

Thank you for sharing, Nikki. I like the new format with narration. I also like the soft music. Maybe a combination of periods of your narration with music, and then maybe some moments of music only, when appropriate? Whatever is most comfortable and enjoyable to you, though! :-)

Can I just say how inspiring it is that you are so beautiful, put-together and fresh so early in the morning? Do you have days when you lounge in pjs, get lazy, etc..or have you kept this as a daily habit?

Thank you for saying that Michelle! I can't remember the last time I didn't get ready 1st thing in the morning, however, I do have days I get really tired or feel bad by the late afternoon and turn in early. I will go to bed if I feel like that which is usually 1-2 days a month ;)

I love this style of video and I'm glad you're finding out more of what you like. I'm the same way with cooking. It's so hard to stay motivated to cook when my kids complain about everything and barely eat and my husband won't eat hardly any veggies... 🤦‍♀️ It's so frustrating. I wish I loved to cook dinner, but I really don't.

I love the way you and your generation is bring back femininity. It should have never been lost. Thank you! Your videos make me smile. I do have to tell you that a floating egg doesn’t mean it’s bad, just that it isn’t fresh. I’ve been keeping chickens for 13 years now and I’ve cooked floating eggs and they were just fine. I just don’t want people to throw away perfectly good eggs thinking they are bad. I can understand why people would think that though. Thank you again for all you do.

Nikki, I loved this video! I do enjoy this new style. Thank you for sharing your thoughts & insights. The bit about Ivan was so touching & real. Your sweet puppy made me smile. Was that Fawn? What's your second dog's name? Your house is so lovely! There were so many times I wanted to simply pause the video & admire the view. I see you removed the table from btw the kitchen & the couch. Is it in a different part of the house? Thank you for sharing! I added that book to my watch later playlist. PS where did you get your dress? It is very flattering!!
@TheLadyoftheHouse
@TheLadyoftheHouse 4 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you enjoyed this Diana! Yes, that was Fawn. The older one is Faline. We put the table out back for the time being, I may move it back in, it just seemed to get in the way at times and when we had company I wanted to make more room when we all fit at the big table but I still have it. I love that dress and found it at DownEast a while back. I searched "wrap chambray dress" and found a very similar one J. Crew makes but it's a bit on the short side. It looks exactly the same, just shorter than mine. If it were the same length I would have gotten myself another one for when this wears out. If somebody would make me a pattern I would buy many of them in different colors and patterns!

(Sigh) I know the meal time struggle with kids VERY well, Nikki. Honestly, 5 people at my table...there has ALWAYS been atleast one person complaining that they don't like something (every meal). I truly believe motherhood has been teaching me patience and humility, more so than cooking and cleaning skills. Not that I have any false dillusions that I'm an amazing homemaker. It's more that God is teaching me to be consistent and disciplined in doing tasks that need to be done and consistently focussing on raising them well, even though there is no praise at the end of the day. The rewards of parenting aren't always immediate. But, now that mine are becoming adults, I see mine and my husband's hard work. I see it has been worth every complaint at the supper table.❤
