***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out new videos every week! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

I don't know what could be better then having your child accept Jesus and be baptized.....25 years of marriage is awesome and a child marrying the love of their life is incredible. God's face is shining and your faithfulness is being rewarded.

So glad you had a good year! I turned 70 this year, made a very difficult move from my home state of Kansas back to Missouri to the area where my son lives so I could see him and my grandson more. I love gardening, gardened 50+ years, and after watching homesteading videos like yours, I grew hundreds of plants from seed. I even grafted about 15 tomato plants, basically just having fun with trying many fun varieties. I lived with my son and grandson from 2015 to 2022, turned the back yard into garden, built a cattle panel hoop house greenhouse, grew 100 tomato plants in 2021 and 200 tomato plants in 2022. I had pepper plants, squash, melons, potatoes, sweet potatoes, flowers and delicious strawberries. I experimented with gardening methods like hay bale gardening, woodchip mulch, which I do not like, too hard to dig 200+ planting holes in and very splintery to walk over, also, small hugel culture spot, grafted tomato plants, etc. Garden heaven. Bless my son for letting me garden in his yard. Your videos are the gold standard for gardening and homesteading and my source of entertainment! Thank you! Now, how about a pantry tour and more cooking and preserving, foraging, shopping videos! Have a very Happy New Year!

What a Hugh praise for Samantha! That's the greatest joy that can ever be experienced for her and for you all as her momma and daddy. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I am 69, and you have taught an old dog new treats in gardening. I grow mostly in my 36x16ft greenhouse, but I have 6 8ft raised beds, a 60-foot hugelkultur, outside. I also raise my peas and potatoes in pots and bags. I live in Alaska but lived in mid Missouri until 2015, when as a missionary, my late husband and I were called up here. I still do Bible study and discipline in the ladies' correctional center here. May the Lord bless you all this year, in all you stand in need of.

On a sad note, I lost my son who was 36 years old in September in the 5th. He is a father to two daughters ages 13 and 4. He died from pulmonary embolisms and deep vein thrombosis. On a higher note, I have started a walk fit program to improve myself, along with diet changes. This has helped quite a bit. I have to say Kevin and Sarah, that you both look soamazing! You seem more relaxed, happy and the way you both look at each other, that is true love!! I love that about you!! ❤ Much love ❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss. I expect that your son had complications from the shot. My family lost 3 suddenly in 2022. My uncle just died in Sept 2022. My cousin (his son) had a stroke and passed a week later. Another cousin died 4 days later. My healthy 36 year old niece lost her vision for a few weeks, most of it has returned. 2 of my sisters had emergency gallbladder surgeries within 2 weeks. These events all happened within 6 months. I don't want to make you feel worse, but I think it is time that people start talking about what really happened. No more experimental interventions. Be healthy in 2024.

I am so sorry for your loss. 😢 My heart goes out to you Losing My son one of the most excruciating things I have ever experienced. I have prayed for יהוה to comfort you. Psalms 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” He’s the one who comforts us in all our trouble so that we can comfort other people who are in every kind of trouble. We offer the same comfort that we ourselves received from God. 2 Corinthians 1:4

I inherited my parents ranch in 2021….since then my husband and one son in law have been managing it. They are doing an awesome job. Got a letter from our local auction earlier in 2023 that I had the highest selling bull for that week. Got another letter this week that I had the highest selling heifer. So proud of my guys, they work hard everyday to make sure our carle are the best they can be. Love your channel and have learned so much. Thinking about a high tunnel because I am in deep Texas where heat is the major problem. I have been gardening since 2010 in inground beds but they are not on the most efficient side of my property…just the most available at the time…..trying to decide if I need to reconfigure or not…as gardeners I think we are always trying to optimize our space. Thanks for all you do to encourage us to grow.

This is simply an awesome recap from an awesome couple. Kevin, because of you, I began over 2 years ago, hatched and raised approximately 40 Quail. Got NPIP certified here in north eastern Tennessee. Sold multitudes of quail eggs to 2 different super markets and loved every minute of that experience. Learned from both of you and Sarah so much on gardening and this past summer, everything changed for my wife and I. Inspired by your lives, we sold out small subdivision home of 4 years, sold our quail business, sold everything to acquire several acres here in the Appalachian mountains. We were not able to maintain the Quail due to the major expenses of the new to be Homestead out here. I’m in my late 60s but working hard to keep good health and excited for all of our futures in 2024. God bless you both. Love all you do. Wayne and Aida Sparks

A wonderful year for you- minus the tick fever and loss of calves, that is. It was lovely being able to follow along, looking forward to each of your videos. It was a weird year for my husband and me, with both blessings and challenges. We too took up a low-carb lifestyle. We eat a ton of veggies, so I don't consider it to be Keto, but there are no starches or sugar. We've both lost about 80 lbs each, so we're far healthier and our blood work shows it. However, he got appendicitis and I got an umbilical hernia, so we both ended up with abdominal surgeries. That's no fun and I'm 12 days post surgery, so Christmas celebrations were kept light and brief. We also had the solemn task of having to evict a tenant from a second home, who'd stopped paying rent. After giving her nearly a year of grace, that court proceeding took several more months, and we just regained possession on 12/31. We were grateful that she left on the ordered date so that the sheriff didn't need to physically remove her, but now have the task of cleaning up a serious hoarders situation that will require gutting the kitchen and bathroom, and those renovations before we can list it for sale. Still, we're grateful to have that concluded after more than a year and a half of that challenging stress and have already made impactful progress with the clean-up. I don't know why I had an obsession with watching hoarding shows in the past, but I guess I was getting trained and prepared with how to safely approach and clean up that situation. Please pray for our former tenant for recovery from her multi-faceted mental and emotional illnesses.

We had some success with our farms but the tragic thing that happened to the family is we lost my father who had the neighboring farm. He taught me what I know about farming/homesteading and was one of the toughest guys I knew. He worked as a brick mason all his life and would come home from a day of that to farm not 1 but 2 little area homesteads/farm that he owned. He was 89 years old when he passed in Oct. just shy of his 90th birthday. I am continuing to farm/homestead on the 3 small farms(including mine). He had incredible calving success last year. he had 6 cows and 8 calves. That's right. 2 sets of twins. I had 5 cows and only 4 calves. Don't believe we lost one. she just never calved or showed like she was ready to calve. We changed bulls this year but the calves this year aren't his. So, I will have 1 last chance this year to keep a heifer or two from the prior bull.

It's great to know that you're doing better and to hear about your successes! My partner and I were finally able to move back to Missouri, and even planted a winter garden for the new owners that includes flowers, garlic, and berries to feed their family next year. We spent a long time considering your old farm, but we just couldn't swing it since they work from home and the internet situation is extremely important to have be fast and reliable. Now we're in Lebanon, building up an urban homestead. We're already got blackberries and rosemary in the ground and have a plan mapped out for the property. I grabbed graph paper and approximated the dimensions of everything when I mapped it out. I was spot on, and I can't wait to build this tiny plot into a more self-sufficient place. We're even hoping to work with someone here to become a part of a community garden so that we can start participating in Homegrown and Handgathered's challenge to eat only homegrown and foraged foods for as long as possible over the winter.

May the Lord give you peace, grace and strength to work through your grief. May you feel His presence each day. Isn't it amazing how gardening helps us see the regenerative power of life? I got into gardening after loss not long ago and find there is so much about it that is restorative. Planting the little seeds and waiting for them to sprout. Working outside early in the cool of the day, seeing the dew on the leaves. Finding a bright green tree frog peeking at you sitting atop a the broad leaf of a corn stalk. Seeing the first rays of sunlight shine through the vines of tomatoes highlighting the glistening red globes. Swarms of little sweat bees, honey bees and other insects pollinating the flowering dill. Seeing those little seeds produce pounds of tomatoes and green beans, big pumpkins, and more. It is the perfect metaphor for life. May your garden prosper and be healing and bountiful this year!😊🐝🥕🐞🥦🍅🌄

Mixed year here. I moved with dad who is 89. Finally sold my house of 19.5 yrs. My oldest grandson went back to school & graduated! Then when i was feeling accomplished!m, i stroked pretty bad (not my 1st, but my worst). 2 months hospitals & 2 rehabs later im back at dads. Lots needs rearranged & cleaned. And i need to accept my limitations. My right side is not well. From my eyebrow to my pinky toe is healing. I have made tremendous progress. My church family & friends poured prayer into me. I was partly paralyzed. But have so much back! My knee locks but i can move my leg. My speech is understandable for the most part. My brain functions test sharp so huge blessings! Dad is slowing down at 89, but still is active. He brings me little treats & we talk about his life in AVA & after. We only grew 4 tomatoes last year, but ohhhh how good. We used grow boxes on the deck right out my back entrance. Sad this stroke has put to rest me getting chickens. If i cant take care100%. Its no. O well, neighbors bring chicken & quail eggs frequently. Ill take that as a blessing (i just wanted colored eggs). Blessings to all

We raise black angus cattle and we have a very strict culling process, any cow that doesn’t successfully raise a calf is sold and replaced. Of course we have some extenuating circumstances, pets and predation, but on the whole we stick to those strict guidelines.

Congratulations for all the successes! Condolences for all the failures. We pull up our jeans and keep moving on, don’t we? ‘23 we had our oldest daughter start her service mission for our church, our oldest son start his senior year of high school, butchered the first heifer born on our homestead, birthed the first steer on our homestead, and celebrated 21 years of marriage. Hubby closed out the year with a bang by *finally* getting the surgery he needed on his right foot, and the left foot should be in a few months once he’s able to walk normally on the fixed foot. Blessings to everyone for this coming year! 🎉❤

What an abundance of blessings for your family. God's warriors have to be strong and have endurance to continue on even in the face of "our Goliaths". Y'all have really been the stones in God's temple. I have definitely gleaned valuable knowledge and inspiration from y'all. I love that you're in the kitchen again and that the recipes are keto friendly🎉 Working new land sure is challenging. Having so many changes can really create a sense of insecurity in a person's life, but y'all have showed thousands of people that adversity can be a blessing ❤🎉❤🎉 God is so so good Peace and Love Neighbors

Our youngest son, got a new job in VA (5 hours away). They sold their house here, made a nice profit, and bought a larger home there. The area has lots of wildlife preserves, boating, fishing, and camping areas. We are all excited for them.

Peppers don't agree with me. But, tried something new. When I chop onions and garlic now, they go into a bowl with apple cidar vinegar. After approximately 20 minutes, the spicey hot is gone. That way they are added at the end of cooking for about a 1/2 minute. Still crunchy. Drain off the vinegar.
