@@S.E.Locksmith You should also replace those tiny screws as well, with 3inch screws. Good tips though. Inside I use deadbolts on inside and out side doors though though, and replacing the hinge screws, with 3inch screws, is a good idea as well. The other thing I do, is get longer/bigger kick plates too, inside, and outside. Good video though.

THANKS..It worked..Not only did I do that, I also doubled the strike guard.💪.No more snooping AROUND and asking my kids who been my room! If they break in to my room now, next step is to get a dead BOLT!

You came at latch with cars from wrong direction ( when demonstrating break in )so the screws are at wrong angle

two eleven yes the will if anything u may need to make where the dead bolt enters the wall a little deeper I’ve done it on a lot of my door but remember you will no longer have a door handle. And depending on your needs deadbolts can have a key on both sides or a turn knob on one side key on the other. And if your needing extra security spend the money and get a bump and pick proof lock

The side pin on my door knob prevents the latch from moving only sometimes. Other times, it's like it doesn't even exists. Do I need to purchase a high dollar keyed entry knob for this to work properly? And are there other ways to prevent this type of entry? Or how can I prevent a butter knife from being used? I prefer the butter knife over the plastic card because it's sturdy and narrow. Also your demonstration uses a door that swings out. Not sure why you did that since most doors swing in. (in reference to the screws that you offset)

You can buy Grade 1 door handle/knob but it will only works with 2-3/4 backseat door installation. Also high security locks are good options as well but they are more expensive... what I recommend you is to talk to a local locksmith near you to come and give you an estimate for that and to install it professionally as the lock manufacture requirements. There is also other accessories available to prevent using credit cards/knife such as Latch Guards etc. Hope that help

Silver Bear, You are right about the door swinging out instead of in... The holes where the screws used to be need to be filled in (I like to use a wooden dowel rod and wood glue to fill the screw holes)... I paint my wooden surfaces to match the door frame, it helps keep the wood from rotting... I don't like to angle my screws as it looks sloppy but instead, they make a guard that fits to help prevent a credit card or other items from being used... Have a great day...

No. If you do that the latch will not function at all

that does not look right, you are sliding the card from the inside of the house, you need to slide the card from the other direction from the outside of the house, the door opens inward not outward,

It doesn't unlocking a door, this technique only simply bypass lock on a door.

Because Deadbolt lock are more secure using a longer Bolt that not moving using a Credit Card for example and combining a strong Strike Plate along with it will definitely increase the security of your door than only having a regular knob door lock. For that they’ve been invited many years ago.

The thing you call a pin is called a deadlatch. Putting the screws in at an angle can cause your door to get jambed if the door has a tight gap. Learn your terminology, and before anyone says anything I have 32 years in the locksmith business. Thank you and goodnight. P.S. 95% homes have deadbolts on their exterior doors.
