VLOG 336 02/01 Day 9 of my Return to Cambodia vlogumentary. I spend the day in a remote village deep in the rice paddies with my cousins where they are planning to cook a special meal for me. This is probably one of my memorable moments during my time spent in the village.

My wife does the cooking. I do the cleaning, that's one aspect of home life she seems clueless about. Cambodians ain't woke, social culture here is dictated in virtually all aspects by necessity, so gender roles are pretty much irrelevant. I see men looking after babies & women hauling buckets of concrete on construction sites. So long as there's rice on the table at the end of they day, everyone's done well.

Anthony Chan, I have my own opinion about Cambodians in Cambodia myself. But we are not here for that. I view videos for my enjoyment just like everyone else. if you don't like it, just don't watch it. I am not saying that you shouldn't. you are the one you said that you love Cambodians as a Cambodian yourself. your name sounds like an American name. did you change it? you get my drift.

Wild field rats is safer to eat than the sewer rats in big cities such as New York and San Francisco, from the United States. I'd rather eat field rats than sewer rats that carry diseases from eating and living in human feces. People living in the southern parts of the United States eat possum and they're a much larger version of a rat. Cha grueng is delicious. My favorite Cambodian stir fry. Salaw Machew Grueng is my favorite Cambodian salaw as well.

I'm a Cambodian naturalised barang, with a Khmer-Vietnamese wife. I've eaten "Ma'u" many times & it's delicious. To me it tastes more like quail than pig- in fact the first time I was fed it, my mother in law just didn't enlighten me it wasn't poultry & Chen didn't tell me I'd eaten rat for two months. Mama breeds them in Daun Penh, in Phnom Penh, in birdcages & feeds them solely on a particular bai that can only be obtained fresh for 3mths of the year. Any Khmer with basic English will tell you "Country Ma'u, her l'aw, but no eat city Ma'u, him make you sick because him eat bad thing". Nobody in this country would ever eat, or feed you City Ma'u (mouse), not unless they're trying to kill you anyway & Cambodian people aren't like that; in fact, if you smile & som pi'a even the roughest of them, the odds are you'll find yourself drinking beer with them shortly thereafter- although you'll probably have to pick up the tab. I look forward to the rainy season rice harvest now, because that's when the biggest & fattest Ma'u are abundant. Along with crab, roast duck, Amok & Loklak, I'll devour them sitting on the floor with friends & the seemingly eternally itinerant family, when we see them. Westerners cringe at eating rat, but once you've learned & adapted to Khmer culture & cast aside all the prejudiced, meaningless Western crap you were raised on, you realise how close these people live with the land. You learn to see life through their eyes. They have so little money, but they make the best of it & as you say Savi, despite their poverty, they are generally kind, generous people who will eagerly invite you into their homes & share what they have. Ma'u is a delicacy here & I'll eat it whenever I can. I love your videos & was very happy to find & subscribe to your channel. I don't believe I could ever readjust to life in the West & even though the Kingdom has it's problems, it's the country I call 'home'. Nham bai! Sok sabai bong, akun chiran.

That type of duck is different from a normal in term that they know how attack you, they know how to take care their babies which the normal ducks don't. Another word is this duck pretty mean, willing inflect pain on you if you dare touch the babies of their. That is it. Pretty tasty.
