【life in japan】anime road trip in rural japan, christmas + alone shopping in tokyo 🇯🇵

I love a good road trip 😈 Especially when anime is involved!!
This week, I went to Tatebayashi, Gunma with my friends to wander around and look at locations from the anime Yorimoi (A Place Further than the Universe) and then we went to see the Christmas illumination lights at Ashikaga Flower Park!! Since it's off-season for the flowers, the whole park is covered with lights and it's really nice!
Then I went and had a nice little mall day alone~ I actually prefer shopping alone because I can go at my own pace and go where I want without worrying I'm bothering my friend or something 😅
Anyways I'm super busy with thesis work so!! I will now go do that!!!!

I LOVE shopping alone and I tend to get stressed when shopping with friends. It's fun sometimes, but I enjoy being able to browse entirely at my own speed.

@@AllisoninTokyo So relatable! I'm short (5'2 hehe) so all my friends are obviously way taller than I am and keeping up with them is always a whole thing. Looking forward to moving to Japan in spring so I'm excited to see what the shopping is like if I get placed in Tokyo :)

Hey a fellow Oregonian did you know they changed the law so we can drive in Japan with a valid license. Also amazed anyone can afford grad school these days hope it payed off.

@@southcoastinventors6583Umm, hey fellow Oregonian, I appreciate the sentiment, but my 3 year graduate program at Portland State from 2017 to 2020 was almost $50,000 and my mortgage in Southeast Portland is almost $1,700 per month. Definitely NOT "affordable."

@@aaronpischke5019 Yeah I hear that a lot through my Inventors group from the Oregon Coast. Really sad how that they do not allow a grace period to repay your loans so you have time to land a job where it becomes possible not to mention the rising tuition rate. Seeing all your down-to-earth videos on life in Japan, not so much as focusing on a specific aspect to either romanticize or bash it, is quite refreshing. Great video as always! And thanks again for all those great recommendations, like sunshine city, ekha sopo, anime pilgrimage and so on. I had so much fun on my trip to Japan two weeks ago, experiencing all that. Did a lot of pilgrimages, bought a really nice skirt at ekha sopo and strolling through the different shops at sunshine city was so much fun! I’ve spend a whole day in there. Great shopping place! Went to Ashikaga Park right before the pandemic, glad to see that park still has the light up event and not cancelled due to pandemic 🥹 definitely will go there again when the quarantine requirements are cancelled in Macau (don't want to waste my AL for it🤦🏻‍♂️) Nice vlog and keep up the hard work👍🏻

It’s nice that you had a good experience with the shop employees! Tbh I actually adjusted my weight loss goals a little because i know how Japan is about that. And like I’m being healthy about it and I was losing weight anyway for my physical health and well-being with my chronic pain, but I know how much it’ll mess with me if Japanese doctors call me fat and I just don’t want to deal with it at all. I hope it isn’t too bad for you! And it’s nice that they think your nose is pretty (it is).

just keep to your goals and don’t listen to anything anyone says about your weight 🥲🥲 if it helps no doctor has outright said im fat yet, they just point to my bmi and go 🧐

@@AllisoninTokyo Yeah I’m definitely going to see how I feel once I get to my original goal, but it’ll be a while yet, I still have a long way to go (passed the halfway mark recently!). But idk, we’ll see how I feel once I get there. If I get there and decide that’s enough, I’ll just be careful with my mental health at checkup time. Thanks though, it does help to know! (BMI is BS anyway)
