It is not just behavior peculiar to DR. A lot of poor, les educated women and men at the lower end of the socio economic class in less well off countries want to date a foreigner to solve their financial stress. It is only that the DR is close to the US so it tends to be highlighted. The same applies to Kenya, Gambia, Colombia, Jamaica etc. The people with good jobs or educated are not seeking a foreigner to make their life better.

All it takes is for you to go through a 6 figure divorce in the States and your perspective will change. Most relationships come down to money once the lust part fades unless you are high school or college sweetharts. I mean you have to start off a marriage in the states with a decent ring and wedding.
