I'm Brazilian, my paternal grandmother was Ukrainian, she died more than 10 years ago at 101 years old and I remember the borscht she made, the pierogi, the galleys and so many other things. Today we are the ones doing this... Congratulations on your channel.

From Canada. Moved to Southern Ukraine ( Russia then) in mid 1700s from Poland. Moved to Canada in 1874. Adopted many foods while living in Ukraine. Vareniki, Porogies, Beet Borsch and cabbage Borsch. Visited Respublica the viilage my ancesstors lived in Ukraine in 1990. Beautiful country. May God bless you.

Mom and Dad immigrated to US in 1949 from Ukraine made borscht similar seems like once a week but had carrots and cabbage in hers. My brother and sister make a great borscht I've never tried until recently but ended up making a nice cabbage soup overcooked I believe. Ingredients for next try on counter so your video comes at an opportune time. Love to see the old ways of my people and keeping the traditions alive to a worldwide audience here especially in these times in the Ukraine. My lord this takes me back 30-40 years. The well-worn house, the sounds of the country in what looks like very late winter...just everything. That cellar looked EXACTLY like the one at my grandparent's. I saw what I think is beef on the bone, a couple big turnips, salt pork on the bone, either parsnips or a breed of potato I'm not familiar with, possibly a bit of alcohol, onion, garlic, some kind of bacon or rib meat with a lot of fat, unknown herbs and preserves of some kind, salt, possibly cream..all seeming to add up to a fairly complex turnip, beef and pork stew with a flavor I can't even conceive of. Also, a hand-crafted boot remover? Never even thought of such a thing.
