He means sterile as in the presentation of the conditions and the way the prisoners are treated, he's saying that what we're allowed to see here is an image that has been "cleaned up" so that it doesn't appear to be nearly as harsh as it actually is in reality. You could say it's like removing the dirt from a wound, but in this case it's about presenting a clean image by concealing the harshest elements of the environment. It's a "sterilized" view because the clean image being presented can only be achieved by removing the "dirty" aspects of the environment.

This is 100% what they mean. The CCP doesn't let the negative aspects of China be known to the rest of the world. Anything filmed with the authorization of the CCP is going to involve a lot of staging things so that you only see what they want you to.

what people don't get is that WD40 is actually not for grease crackling chairs even though it says so on the can amongst other things. WD40 is a degreaser so if you want to have a silent chair lock and more use PTFE spray or a spray lube with Teflon in it

WD-40 is not a lubricant, this is a common misconception. It is meant to prevent corrosion by creating a hydrophobic surface that water doesn't stick to or soak into. The "WD" stands for "water displacement". It's also pretty good for removing rust with a little sandpaper. It can be used as a quick fix lubricant sometimes but it won't have that effect for long. Might even make it worse in the long run.

I did 4 years at ECC in Elmore, AL and we had electric fences. Started at the bottom and went up both sides of the fence. On both rows of fences

When he says "sterilize" he means like a potemkin village. All the people are on their best behavior because they got a brief, they understand severe punishment comes if they screw up when eyes are on the prison guards where they might look bad if a stabbing or riot goes off. Guarantee you the prisons are not like that all the time.

“Sterile” meaning a clean or controlled look at the prison. He mentions that they aren’t able to ask certain questions or go in certain places. They don’t get to see the dirty or nitty gritty side of the prison due to censorship.

That's already a thing Josh....... It's called a "green roof" it's obsorbed into the soil on the roof and not straight off your roof into the dorm drains. When it rains heavy all that water that lands on our infrastructure overloads the storm drains. The storm drains and sewers are separate systems, when they area at capacity from rain storms have overflows that direct the sewage and run off from the house/streets/parking lots right into your local streams river and other water ways. The more infrastructure that has green roofs the better our ciry and planet will be. The water is supposed to go back into mother earth's skin.

Bill Curtis narrates these shows on A&E. He’s 82, so he’s probably retired. This film is about 30 years old. It’s probably more thretcherous now! Plus they only let the best of the prison be filmed. So interesting. 🌹

To your question: I think broken glass shards glued down would be MUCH worse than barbed wire for sure because the glass will break under your weight and give small lacerations rather than pokes… now that land field full of RAZOR WIRE they’re using now is a different animal, that shit makes me shake looking at it and visualizing escape

The mower you talk about is called a “reel” style mower. I have a Scotts brand one but I stopped uding it years ago because it took longer but it was awesome because you didn’t smile like gas afterwards. Then I went to battery. But that still took longer than a good gas mower. And in really hot weather batteries take too much abuse

About the landscaping by hand - Here's a serious answer to the serious question - a lady from Korea moved a couple houses down from us when I was a kid and she used to get on her knees and weed the whole yard by hand and cut the grass with scissors. I'm dead serious. She put in a few hours every day and by the time she got to the end, it was already time to go back to the beginning where the weeds grew back already. We couldn't believe it. That's dedication.

My boy had a friend locked up in west China. He punched a guard and they attempted to hang him, then they rescued him. Then they did it again like 3x. Their form of torture is another level.

I have one of the mowers you are talking about. They really do cut well. They get hung up alot but no time to clean it out. They don't cut thin stringy strains well. But a thick hearty grass like St. Augustin it will cut wright threw.

I live in the Philippines and I did 3 weeks in jail that felt like 3 years and oh my gosh it was a nightmare. When you’re a foreigner and you got some money with you and your books, be prepared to fight. After 4 days nobody messed with me. I also did time in the states in KCCF in Seattle, Washington and the jail and prison there was heaven compared to the jail in the Philippines.

UK, Canada, Australia, and all of the EU prisons are like vavations compared to the US. So imagine how good they have it? America is a good balance. Not as bad as Russia or Mexico or somsehit but not a vacation rental like Sweden.

@@emmw7794 I had my wife send me money and food while in jail in the Philippines. The men hate on foreigners and tried to extort me but that didn’t work. Sadly you gotta fight to get people to not mess with you. I actually enjoyed the food at the prison in Seattle. The breakfast was the best too. But sadly they don’t give you much of salt and pepper packets. I bought those with my commissary money. Dinner was good too but sometimes a cold meal. Now as for lunch, the guys in my dorm didn’t like the peanut butter and jelly sandwich so I ate those and the bologna sandwiches too. The dorm was cool and it was 10 of us in there. Yeah there were fights but nobody messed with me. Time there went by quick because it was always something to do. But we did have a white guy from Europe I think Estonia or Czech Republic and he said that he prison in his country was like heaven and a rehabilitation center.

@@Buglife.352 if you don’t have any money or family to help you then you have to eat the scraps they give you and it’s not a good portions. The guys would get a handful of rice with little meat and vegetables. I see why they hustle to get better food and other things. For me and another foreigner we were put in a better part of the jail and got better treatment. They’d let us order Jollibees and other food or have our family bring us food.

@@emmw7794 I've been in prison in Australia, and while its better than your average max security in the US, it's definitely no picnic. Same with the UK and Canada, from what I've heard. But yeah, some European places seem pretty cruisy (Denmark, Norway etc).

Japanese prisons are similar. Singapore prisons actually cares about all prisoners. You should check that out. Their prisons are nice and clean. South Korean prisons are not as strict as Japan or Chinas prisons also. Check it out.

I've used one of those old push mowers and I can tell you yes it is fun bro you should get one sometime if you don't got much lawn to deal with it's nice but blades always gotta be sharpened plus it ain't as easy to control how close your cut is to the grass. Haven't used a scythe yet but I definitely want to at some point lol

In Peru, they break bottles in cement across the top of walls. The walls are 15 feet high.

At mine we have an electric fence. Then another fence with barbed wire on the entire thing. In between a sand pit with sensors that immediately notify the control room. And they tell the closest post vehicle to go investigate that part of the fence

WD-40 isn’t a lubricant! It will dry it out and make the issue worse. What you need is “dry lube” spray or spray white lithium grease

My dad was a prison guard here in California and there’s a lot of prisons that actually have electric gates on our side of the West Coast

i got one of those lawn mowers with just the blades. got a really little yard. but its not bad esp if the blades are sharp. takes a little effort tho to push thru the grass esp if its long might have to hit most of it twice
