When she said, “i was meant to be a nurse”, that get me big time. I myself was an ICU nurse here in the UK, our hospital became the center of coronavirus during the first wave back in March and i saw myself crying every time I finished a shift, not because i am tired and weak, but because all the scenes I’ve witnessed during that time is so depressing it affected me emotionally, physically and mentally. You saw dying patients who can’t even be with their love ones during a difficult time, so you just need to hold their hands and say your own prayer. I’ve never imagine witnessing 40-50 ventilated critically ill patients all crammed in our ICU, all fighting for their lives while colleagues who are redeployed nurses from different wards helped us and looking confused as hell what is happening. While us ICU trained nurses looked after the sickest patients that are due for proning or those with CRRT, all the while we have to look after these redeployed nurses when things get worsed for them. It is exhausting, but during this pandemic, I’ve known my worth as a nurse. And like what she said, I am meant to be one. So to all my nurse colleagues out there, Thank you for your service, well done you!

I’ve worked on a covid unit for about a year now..I’ve seen more than I thought I’d ever see. We watched person after person get worse and worse and then pass away. It breaks you down mentally and physically. And I also think all of us will have PTSD after this. All of us are risking our lives and our loved ones lives etc and seeing what we’re seeing will never go away

Breezy and her amazing team (Kendra - awesome rainbow hair, Rose, Helen and I think the RT was Michael) took extraordinary care of my mom AND my brother and I for the subsequent 20 hours he and I stayed with her after we honored her DNR on 7-2-21. She died after a hemorragic conversion post ASAH and I couldn't be more grateful for Harborview, the LifeFlight team, the ER (Dr. Boop) and every single person involved in her care but ESPECIALLY Breezy and her team on the worst day of my life! They loved and cared for my mommy like she was their own mom - can't say enough kind words!

Thank you so much for all that you do.. A dear friend of mine who I knew since I was real little that my family and I were taking care of for two years passed away just three weeks ago due to covid-19. We were only born one day apart and his mom was from Ukraine and his dad what's from the US and they had him one year after she got her citizenship here. He was diagnosed with a very aggressive terminal illness at Birth and the doctors told his family that it would get worse as he got older but sometimes it may give him a break during his teen years which it did. I'll never forget when it got to the point where his doctor said he would need around-the-clock care and before it even got to that point he had to do so much from breathing treatments and different types of medications all the way to a feeding tube and using a wheelchair and Walker as needed. But it got to the point where he would need IV Therapy every day instead of just every now and again he would require nighttime oxygen and oxygen during the day as needed Physical Therapy every day just to keep the strength he has and suctioning whenever it would become too hard for him to breathe and so on so forth. Basically he would need around-the-clock care and due to his parents developing health problems they couldn't do it anymore so my family said that we would take him in and take care of him from now on and I'll never forget when we loaded his hospital bed with him laying in it in our big van and while my parents were driving I was sitting right next to him. This was just a week after our 18th birthday celebration because again we were only born one day apart so we even shared a birthday party. He was a very very very devout Eastern Ukrainian Catholic and I think that really helped him through all the challenges his illness brought 10. Since my mom used to be an RN before becoming a stay-at-home mom I learned how to do every single aspect of his care from his breathing treatments feeding tube feedings and physical therapy all the way to doing daily IV pokes in his Port giving IV medications changing his feeding tube when needed managing his oxygen and suctioning when he needed it. When he came to me and told me that something wasn't right and to call his doctor I did and whenever he's not feeling great due to his health his doctor always told us to bring him into the hospital because with his health it could always take a turn and she told us to bring him in right away. When he got on his bed and we loaded it into the van and as we were driving to the hospital I was sitting right next to him in the seat next to his bed and I could hear him singing this Ukrainian Catholic hymn that would traditionallyonly be sung at an Eastern Catholic funerals or by the person that may not pull through and because he was usually a fighter and pulled through before he always had the attitude that he was going to make it but when he was singing that hymn completely in Ukrainian that broke my heart to pieces it really did. It was a stroke of luck but his doctor was able to get him his own room at the hospital and when we pulled in enrolled his bed out the nurses were ready and while my dad was pushing his bed through I was walking by him holding his hand and another thing that really broke me was the fact that he was actually shaking he was that scared I couldn't believe it. The Hospital knew him really really well and so did all the nurses and they could tell something was not right at all and that he wasn't coming in just for his traditional two weeks worth of treatment. He thought that they weren't going to let me in with him because of the virus and as my parents were talking to the nurse while I was comforting him and calming him he said to me please Carmon please don't go and I told him that I will do whatever I can and whatever I have to do so that way I don't have to go anywhere. After my parents talked to the nurse she came up to him and told him that she understood and could tell how scared he really was but only one person could go to his room with him and if they did they would have to quarantine themselves in the room with him. I looked at my parents and they said that I should go with him. When him and I got up to his room the nurse was really sweet the entire time and she told him that due to the things that are going on they have to do a covid-19 test and he has experienced viral swabs before and he does not enjoy them so he was not happy but she reminded him that I was right there and that while it may not be pleasant I was going to keep him calm while she did it. After she swabed him because all of a sudden it got hard for him to breathe she got his oxygen on him and checked his oxygen and saw that it was dropping. The test came back and it was positive. it was starting to become apparent that oxygen wasn't going to be enough and he always used a BiPAP at night while sleeping along with oxygen so the nurse said that he would have to wear his BiPAP and his oxygen day and night since he was having trouble breathing. when he got that positive test he was so scared that the doctor or the hospital wouldn't let me stay with him anymore but his nurse told him that they were going to get a cot for me so that way I can have somewhere to sleep and so we could still go with the plan of having me Stay there in quarantine with him. I got my test and for some reason I came up negative. and for some reason I came up negative. He was still able to speak but he was really tired. for a couple days it seems like he was starting to get better but then all of a sudden It was not good. His doctor and the nurse said that the best course of action would be to intubate him with a ventilator but that was hard for me to take but it was especially hard for him to take because he's been through that before this pandemic and he told me he would never want to do that again. and he told his nurse completely in Ukrainian in his exact words please no I would rather be with my Lord Jesus and my babushka and my dadushka now. if he is calling me home I want to go home and I want to go in peace and comfort and because that nurse knew him really well she understood bits and pieces but she needed me to translate a little bit so I translated what he said and it broke that nurses heart that after 21 long years of fighting and pulling through that due to what he heard about covid-19 and the odds of people that had to go on the ventilator especially if they had health problems that he just wanted to go peacefully. Those two Ukrainian words mean Grandma and Grandpa. When it was time for the night shift nurses to come in after day shift left he said to me Carmon I feel really tired really weak and really scared I would like to pass into heaven but I would like to pass in the manner that Jesus did after he died on the lap of the Virgin Mary in her arms and I would like to go to heaven starting where I feel safest and I knew what he meant so I called his night shift nurse who was a very sweet Eastern Orthodox lady and she had another nurse come in and they both lifted him up so that way he could pass away peacefully in my lap. While he was in my lap we had a zoom call with my parents and his parents and that was the hardest video call I have ever had to do. He would talk to the rest of us in English but he would talk to his mom and dad in Ukrainian. Three words that he said really pulled at my heartstrings because due to his illness he has been through so much and he never complained but those three words were it hurts Carmon. And I said to him I know honey I know but you will be with our Lord soon and when I said that he became more at peace with the situation. after the call he told me that he was content with going to his Lord but also really scared at the same time and his Eastern Orthodox night shift nurse came in to check on us and she could tell it was almost that time. And even though he was Eastern Catholic and his nurse was Eastern Orthodox their prayers and hymns their denominations were identical for the most part so after he told me he was scared I held his hand while he was in my lap and said shhh it's okay I'm here and I'm not going anywhere be at peace. and before him his nurse and I started singing their Eastern hymns she held his hand and calmly told him Carmon's here and her and I will make sure you go to heaven peacefully. After we sang his favorite Eastern hymn which was a very beautiful one I placeed my hand on his chest and then out of nowhere his heart just stopped beating he stopped breathing and that's when I knew he left and went to a better place but before he did go after we all chanted he said to me in Ukrainian then English I love you Carmon and thank you. God bless his nurse because right when he passed I couldn't hold it anymore and she gave me her shoulder to lean on and his funeral liturgy was so beautiful even though it was just me my family and his parents And his priest. There were a couple of other close family members and friends but that's it. His dad learned and was fluent in Ukrainian so he gave his eulogy completely in Ukrainian And I gave mine completely in English. The family asked me to give a eulogy and I was touched and honored to be able to do so they also asked me to sing the song that he sang on the way to the hospital that is usually done for these occasions and that was very beautiful very somber and very hard at the same time. his family and my family all bursted into tears after church because of how beautiful they told me I sounded. . May you rest in peace my sweet Kyrylo. you were such a wonderful person and I'm glad I was able to be more or less like your nurse for these two years and also like your one day older sister. there is a big hole in my heart now that you're gone but I know you're in heaven and I will see you one day

I have a mild case of Covid right now. Day two and my symptoms are so mild, but I know some people’s symptoms are far worse.

I just went through this on my unit and i am expecting to go through it again. Doesn't matter. After my son, nursing is the greatest thing in my life. Literally nothing could happen to make me regret becoming one.

I have been a nurse for 30 years plus, 11 of those in ICU, now in PACU. When the surgery cases went to essentials only, we were advised that we would be floating to the floors, covid floors , and ICU as " helping hands" basically glorified " go-fers". While the nurses work in isolation with ALL the ppe on,we stand at the doors until the come to the window with" will you go get me a..." . Now with more nurses falling ill , we are utilized even more. We have our own ppe and can go into rooms and take a more proactive part., from turning patients, to bathing , to wiping bums. And proud to do it ! We are a TEAM ! I see nurses that have come out of admin offices, support services, put on old scrubs and jump back in the game having not given a med in years. Unfortunately, I have also seen the nurses that have refused to float. Put in for leave of absence, and outwardly say they won't float. You have turned your back on us and to those for whom you've entered this career. Why did you enter this career?Shame , just shame ! This is the war. And to you my sisters and brothers, I got your back ! You're damn right I got your back !

Guys I work with 3 collegaues in Bosnia and herzegovina in Sarajevo with covid patients and 3 of us work with more than 80 patients. This is crazy. We cant handle it anymore. This sittuation is very bad here for us who work and for patients. Too much patients on small amount of us who works with these patients.

You have no idea the one who holding the ipad feeling, listening every each word from family relative by the fact that they knew their sibling are dying and chance to survive is super low. I am crying because i am that person and my heart break every pieces.

Seven days in a row in most hospitals are 12 hour shifts whew! I can barely make it home after doing just 3 shifts(12hr).

I have been very vigilant in trying to stay safe. I wish people would listen and watch these videos. It’s real and it’s deadly. Everyone that is involved in this kind of care, I pray and send all my heartfelt appreciation for all that you are trying to do. We as human beings needs to come together and do what we can to beat this virus. Let’s get back to living in harmony and appreciate life. Thank you 🙏

The staff at Baptist Health in Little Rock AR are wonderful they tried so hard to save my dads life. Unfortunately he passed away Thanksgiving 2020. God please protect our heros

I remember telling my sister who is a nurse to consider resigning due to the pandemic. She told me that no, and that they are like soldiers they cannot leave during the battle in case she died at least she help save lives. She contracted covid and when she recovers she went again to the battle.

Devastating for anyone who has lost a love one through COVID or been through it themselves. My heart goes out to them all, I nearly lost my daughter to it just two weeks ago. She is doing well now and home. We need to remember the devastation COVID has on the wonderful medical teams around the world. The Trauma they too go through dealing with this. My prayers are with you ALL. ❤️
