@1 Corinthians 1:18 Jesus didn't accept everything blindly, either. In fact, telling people to STOP doing that was part of the whole reason He showed up. And an "opinion" can also be "good parenting" at the same time.

Pi saying that he wanted to be baptized was showing that he didn't fully understand what his father was saying at the time. His father was explaining that believing in just religion could only take one so far. Earlier in the movie Pi explains that God didn't cure him of polio it was the medicine. Which made his lesson more effective because when you don't feel God's presence at a certain moment in life logic is just as suitable a solution.

Very under-appreciated movie. I love the conversations between Pi and his father. They have their disagreements, but they are both right in their own way and make excellent points. It's a shame we probably won't get a chance to see movies like this being made anymore. Movies really went downhill after 2015 when everything started becoming too politically correct.
