But that actually is a big deal in Asian representation, so while he was being playful, he was right; that is one way his character goes against stereotype and people talk about this a lot. The Asian male side character is often the guy that never "gets the girl", and isn't depicted as sexually attractive. It's talked about a lot, so the fact that his character is a player type that women find hot is rare on North American TV and movies. Even Stephen Yeun being in a serious sex scene on Walking Dead was a big deal. It's rare.

Yeah, I think it's a matter of showing not telling. People sitting around and talking can really work, but the dialogue and direction has to really be on fire and have a rhythm to it like a lot of Woody Allen films.

I love that scene where the drag queen walks into the convenience store, and tells her story to Appa, and he just nods his head in this appreciative way. Something about it just seemed so... nice to me.
