As a mechanical engineer also ex defence industry, now in my 40s, I respect your honesty and integrity. There are so many fakers on youtube, with minimal education talking nonsense and promoting nonsense. Unfortunately, many are suffering from burnout and mental health issues due to these unrealistic expectations and ambitions. You are keeping it real. All the best

I recently retired from the aerospace industry (mostly military) after 48+ years. I continued to develop new skills and acquire knowledge up until the day I retired. I have an '85 FJ60, a '66 FJ40 project vehicle, and a Samurai. Good to see that you have the initiative to continue your education. Knowledge is power. That is something that no one can take away from you. Cheers!

Agree, ADF is great place for a trade. 15 years in the navy with trade as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer maintaining Helicopters. Best time of my life.

if you put an rhs tube under the front edge of the table it should help support it with no support in the middle

I’m glad that you’re studying mechanical engineering. Ages ago I thought it would be good for you to do this as it will allow you to do some much more ambitious projects that need to be certified to be allowed on the road, who knows maybe you can develop new products that you can register as your own intellectual property and make some decent money.

Good on you Dani! This year I’ve been thinking whether to do the airforce or go back to uni and do (a new passion for me too!) mechanical engineering. Not sure which way I’ll go but it’s nice to here your point of views and I think it’s great you know what you want and you’re going after it even if it’s different to what people think you should do

Danie, I love watching your videos as they are the real person kinda stuff that I like and enjoy.. and with 4wd's included that's ticking boxes for me, and your not the type to go ripping up tracks and being a total hoon/idiot with your vehicles unlike other channels on here, that also ticks boxes for me... I am also an ex-RAN Firefighter so the defence side of thing I can totally relate to. Keep up the great work and videos .. I am yet to see one of your lives but as you say they are late at night...

thank you! the name is the KARLBY and it is a combination of walnut and veneer so not solid wood but very heavy and more solid than their standard tops. This one is usually for kitchen use.

there is plenty of avenues for them to assist in study however I opted to undertake study seperate from Defence to avoid having to give them back years once I've completed my study

Can you elaborate on why mechanical engineering doesn't relate to vehicles?

just the study side of it isn't directed towards vehicles specifically. there's no money in vehicle engineering so majority of the study is directed towards civil machinery and mechanical systems and not vehicles in particular.
