My dad is 90. He's a Type II diabetic. He has had 5 bypasses, carotid artery surgery, and currently has 13 stints. God sustained him through all of this! He still plows and ha s a garden. We serve a mighty God!

We have lost 2 parents in the last 2 years. We are constantly dealing with care giving issues and everything it entails. 1 minute you are moving along and the next you get hit with something else that changes your whole life. All the hugs ,❤&prayers.

We will be praying for your dad & your family🙏. My husband has A-fib and he had a stroke on February 14th this year while driving his 18 wheeler. During that time we found out he has congested heart failure with only 25% heart function. He’s now in cardio rehab. He had to retire after he lost his job & his insurance. Has turned out life upside down. But God has been here through it all. So we really know how to pray for your dad🙏. Keep us updated please.

I will definitely be adding you all to my daily prayers. ❤ my uncle Frank was a wwii vet. He had 3 of the open heart surgeries you are speaking about plus a pace make. He lived to be 97 i believe and he passed away from cancer on Christmas eve. Oh how much he would love you guys. You 2 remind me of my family .we are from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Kevin you are so much like my dad when he was your age and Sarah you are so much like a combination of my aunt Winnie and me. One day we are all going to be great family and friends in heaven . I love how you followed the the God's will . He knows what is best for us. We don't always know why we are compelled to do or not do something but trusting in our Lord in all things he will lead us. Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment to have a lump/mass looked at. I am happy to pray for Kevin's father. It will keep my thoughts on the procedures going on there, and keep the positive prayers going his way.

When I worked in the hospital as a cardiac nurse, I took care of many many people who had open heart and I saw lots of successful surgeries, outcomes, and most of them had multiple comorbidities, lots going on with their health, etc. Remain hopeful! ❤ A couple of tips, make sure they are controlling his pain after the surgery so he can get up and move around and do the rehab he needs to do. Also, if they give him an incentive spirometer, don't just set it on the table, he needs to USE it! It's to get his lungs stronger and to help his breathing and prevent pneumonia or other complications from secretions just sitting in his lungs. God be with you all.

My grandpa also had exposure to agent orange in Vietnam. It caused health complications in his life as well. I will be praying for your dad and his surgery. I have put it on my calendar. As a nurse, I want to say congratulations to your daughter. She has chosen a wonderful profession. Also, I want you to know that I worked in a cardiovascular hospital and cardiac rehab as well. I have seen a lot of patients who have had ablations and bypasses and they did great! I will be praying that Kevin's father does great as well. 🙏

My hubby (57) had a 5 way open heart bypass surgery last September. He has a hereditary condition that led to this. He spent a month in hospital and another 4 months recovering. The array of meds after surgery took some adjusting but he's finally almost back to normal. I hope your dads surgery goes well and he has a speedy recovery. Thank your dad for his service from our little Aussie family. Sarah I hope your mums health improves also.

My family will keep your father in our prayers. His surgery is on my grandsons birthday, with prayers answered it will also be your father's "new day to begin new life". On a side note, IT CANT BE 8 YEARS!!! We all come so far in such a short time.

Kevin and Sarah, please thank your Dad for his service for me. I come from a military family as well. Also, please tell your Dad that my Dad, Dan, was a Marine and had a triple bypass and almost 30 years ago so I'm sure technology has grown by leaps and bounds since then and he lived almost 20 years post bypass and did not pass due to any cardiac event. So I hope that helps give him strength. My Grandpa Ray, served in Pearl Harbor during WWII and did pass due to a heart attack, his 2nd before this techology was available to him. My BIL Steve was also in Vietnam. Those three are in heaven and I'll be asking them to be with your parents now as they prepare to help give them peace as well as surrounding them, and you all on the day of his surgery. I will be praying for him and will be asking my family, especially the Marine, the Sailor and the Soldier in heaven to be with them on that day and the days after lifting him him up, giving him the strength he knew in the service to bounce back quickly and to feel much stronger than he has been recently. Oh, and my grandpa, the Sailor, was born on May 7, 1916! I hope this brings him some comfort, knowing his commrades will be with him to bring him through, but they dont want to meet him for many more years. ❤🙏God Bless you all and many prayers of peace and comfort.

Agreement in prayer for a great outcome. My mom went through open heart surgery, mitral valve repair, ablations and eventually pacemaker, it’s a long recovery.🙏😇Glad God led you to leave more free time to spend with family. I’ve been caring for loved ones in our home for 38 years, my nursing background really helps, but couldn’t be done without the word of God and prayer. Blessings for strength and wisdom 🙏

I hated being an empty nester. My husband passed away when I was 49. My youngest moved out when my mother in law asked him to move in with her as she was dying from cancer. I moved in when my brother in law passed to take care of their home. Prayers for your dad and mom. And for Sarah’s aunt and mom. Congratulations on your daughters graduating

It's really heart breaking to hear families going through health issues with aging. I'm a R.N. working in rehab and long term care. I see patients like this all the time. It can go south real fast. I'm so glad to hear your baby is going into nursing career. God knows we need more help. There is a great nursing shortage and we are all pushed to the challenge of working in the profession. Will be praying Tuesday. Samantha couldn’t have chosen a better profession. I went back to school when I was 33 and have been nursing for more than 25 yrs. I am a floor nurse at 62 and wouldn’t have it any other way. The best thing about nursing is there are so many ways to go. I would love to be able to talk to her and encourage her.
