We go back in time in Rothenburg ob der Tauber | Full-time Motorhome Travel | Eurotrip vlog 4

Timber frame houses, cobbled streets, delicious snacks and motorhome parking. Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber has it all. And more.
As if we weren’t excited enough about visiting a medieval, walled town, we happened to visit Rothenburg Ob De Tauber the weekend of the imperial city festival.
It takes place the first weekend of September and, basically, the whole town becomes a big medieval camp!
There are groups from various time periods in the towns history, all dressed up and living in their respective encampments around the town.
We arrived in the evening and I couldn’t wait to go and have a look around. Needless to say, we parked up, fed and walked the cats and then went straight to town.

We absolutely loved Rothenburg when we went, and this was so enjoyable to watch and feel like we were back in a place that we absolutely loved ❤ 😍

Great place, the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang film locations are quite hard to find, and amazingly not signposted or advertised. When you do find the square where the toy makers shop is, it all comes flooding back.

Thanks, yeah I cant contain myself when I see a timber framed building, and to be there when the festival was on was just the icing on the cake.

We went a few years ago and loved it, Black Forest area is beautiful. Its also were Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was partly filmed! We went to some of the filming locations, very nostalgic 🙂

Only our favourite place in the whole world, the wife was sharing your enjoyment every minute👍 what date was you there, we was there in June and sept 22 and I think there was a festival on the following weekend after we left🤷🏼‍♂️

Where were you staying In Rothenburg please? Looked like a car park but with motor home facilities. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi! Yes this was ‘car park 3’ we stayed in. It allows Motorhomes to stay and has toilet emptying facilities and fresh/waste water, it is literally a car park and has a lot of traffic coming and going because it also has trucks and busses using it but we stayed on a Sat night when no trucks move because they don’t work on Sundays so we had a peaceful night! It’s €12 for 24 hrs but for us, the proximity to RODT was perfect!
