Iphone Hotspot Hack For WIFI Cameras - ft. Wyze Cam V3

Today, I'll show you how to connect your WiFi cameras (Wyze Cam, Eufy indoor cam, Yi home camera, Reolink Argus or any WiFi camera that has on board micro SD card recording) to your phone's hotspot (I'm using an Iphone 11 ). I have done a video a while back showing this method but I found an easier way to do it and you don't have to re-run the setup on the cameras and your WIFI cameras will just automatically connect using the WIFI credentials that you have setup at home.

I had pre-ordered the wyze Cam aversion 3 a while back and it finally came in will definitely be doing this next time I stay in a hotel. Do you have any other tips for on the go security? I also have a Wi-Fi hotspot on my iPhone if that is needed.

Will this also work for a MiFi hotspot unit? This would be great for rv travelers to setup Blink Outdoor cams or similar genre of camera. That’s allowing security when you have no internet connections at your campsite.

Your intelligent and kind style is compelling. We are fans of you. Condo rules will not allow outdoor cameras so what would be the smart products to buy to protect the front of the garage from cameras and devices inside my cars. both day and night as well as get some value/use as possible dash cams to protect cars while they are parked in store parking lots?

The hotspot hack works for Android phones with the Wyze V3 camera. I was curious about this method of operation with the new Wyze outdoor plug. It works also! Thanks for stirring up my curiosity with your insight of using your iPhone's hotspot.

Hi. Have you done any reviews using cellular cameras? How does it work? I'm thinking if you're in an area with no internet(vacation cabin). Also, I'm concerned about shabby internet service that goes down often. Could a cellular camera work just as well?

Not a geek but using this method then theres no need for buying the travel router? Once you set up camera at home you can use camera anywhere without wifi as long as u have sd card then view footage on pc when you get back to vrbo,hotel etc?

I have Verizon hotspot on my phone and this method is not working with iPhone 12. Resetting network on the phone, adding cameras, resetting cameras - not working. Do you have alternative method to have the V2 cams talk to the hotspot?

My hotspot drops connection if there's no activity. Does the camera have any keepalive pings to keep the hotspot up?

how to RTSP on your PC when the IP cam is on a hotspot network via your cell phone. note, I can't use the 192.168... address because the PC and IP cam are on different network. Even if I link the IP cam to a router access point, instead of directly to the cell phone, and setup port forwarding, I cannot access the IP cam using RTSP. Any success with this?

I had to start doing this because my wife network kept getting compromised. What sucks is obviously you can’t remotely monitor them. Also many of these cheaper cameras with apps are Chinese and hide how to actually set them via web interface. I can help people see how to find how to connect to their own. I found three default users set beyond your Wi-Fi cams app user that were defaulted allowing any access without knowledge. Also fro server settings to remotely also copy your images from a SS. Add. Be careful with p2p cams. Disable, and do like this videos says.

What I do is do new setup. Then when your on your own Wi-Fi and it asks for the Wi-Fi credentials then change it to your hotspot credentials. Then it will use that going forward. Also on many iPhone apps for up cams, if you go to the “about” or similar pages in the app and keep hitting their icon it either then turns logging on for you to get log access, or sets audio and microphone settings. They hide it under these areas. One was a long button press on their icon in the apps about page.

Do you know how to increase the recording time?. I inserted a SD card, it shows that there is a SD card, but nothing changed. It keeps recording only 12 seconds. Also, do you know how to access the videos on the SD card?. Thanks, and Happy New Year!.

The 12 seconds is the recording in the cloud... If you have the microSD card installed, the camera will record the whole motion event even before and after the motion... You can access it by selecting view playback in cameras live view.

Luyz Qint - you can scroll side to side and place the vertical line to the green marks in the timeline and that is where the camera recorded to the micoSD card .

Luyz Qint you don't need to..it records the start of motion until the motion stops or you can set it to record 24/7 in the settings.

Wasting data plan? Time lapse is a set it and forget it.. Setup the wyze cam by connecting via your phone..set the settings that you need then turn it off... I can always eave a 20 dollar camera and not a 900 dollar IPhone..

Not sure where you're from, but in the Continental US, most people have access to unlimited mobile data, if that's what you're referring to...
