I went through a deep depression a few years back. Like, seriously considering suicide type of depression. I stopped taking care of myself, which included not showering. Even after six weeks, no one complained of a smell and I didn't itch or feel soiled. I dunno, maybe I'm one of those rare people who just don't stink.

Showering three times a week isn't really practical in tropical countries. Where I'm from, people shower at least once a day. The sun is hot and the air is very humid. You will sweat a lot and will stink at the end of the day. Your skin will also feel sticky.

Interestingly enough, oily skin and scalp can also be caused by too much showering / soap instead of not enough. The body is stripped of natural oils and rushes to produce more, leaving your skin and hair more oily than before. Less frequent showering can help irritated and problem skin.

I used to work at the front desk for a centre. One day, an individual with unstable living conditions came in, and it was clear that he hadn't showered in a long time. I was able to smell him the second he walked in (the front desk was about 20 feet from the door), and he walked up to the desk, leaned over the desk, and spoke to me for several minutes. When he left, everyone who was at the centre complained about the smell, but it was no where near as bad as when he was basically in my face. I don't think I'll ever forget that smell. It's also why I think it's extremely important for there to be accessible, free, shower spaces available for homeless populations. People may think it's ridiculous, but imagine: If you had no access to getting clean, how could you try and improve your life? Your social interactions would be negatively impacted everywhere you go. You wouldn't be able to get a job, you may even be turned away from food establishments. Edit: wow, thank you everyone for your likes and comments! It's amazing how many people agree! I'm going to look into supports and be back with more info.

Some Soaps cause dry skin but not all soaps do. Adding water to your skin will not dry it out unless something is wrong with the water

Trying to explain to people that I know that their 2+ showers a day isn't healthy for them is like speaking to a brick wall. Every two days or so is good enough, and once a day in sweaty summer periods.

I think the concept is ideal for those who aren’t too active. During the fall and winter, I shower every few days, but during the spring and summer I shower almost daily because of the sweating. A construction worker will shower more often than someone who just sits around all day. :)

I had this ad 2 days ago of a guy saying that he hasn’t showered for like 5 years, and he just said that he stank a lot and people stayed away from him a lot.

Imo it depends where u live and how sweaty ur r and ur age... but other factors play a role in how clean u r.. like u can shower everyday but still not be 100% clean because I might not washed ur hands ect... I live in a rlly cold area of England... it rains a lot, we even sometimes get snow in summer... once a week is fine for me cause I barely sweat... and I also use lotions creams soaps deodorant ect. If I did shower at least once a day I would have no skin and spares hair, my skin already peels off after I shower so everyday wouldn't work. As long as you are clean in other ways as well that's ok... and no I'm not oily , sweaty and smelly.... like I said I don't sweat and my skin is pretty dry.

Once a week for me is enough. I’m not a huge fan of being wet due to having eczema. I only even do it once a week in the summer. In winter my house is freezing so I only clean vital parts with soap water and a flannel

Up till last year or so I used to shower up to twice a day, but now I (full body)shower once or twice a week maybe thrice at most, and believe it's better this way, too much showering seemed to have damaged my hair and skin.
