This is a video I created. And edited. Poorly but still. It is not the most popular video. Or the channel. I'm not PewDiePie. Or Mr. Beast. Or those crazy guys from Dude Perfect. I'm not popular as Minecraft channels. Popular as Lego channels. Not even close to Dice Tower. Or Man vs Meeple. Or Shut Up & Sit Down. But I still do it. Why? Because I love it. And this is a fun attempt to get more recommended by using key words like names of popular KZfaqrs or channels. I'm not sure if this will work. As I said it is a fun experiment. And filming these videos is fun. Reviews. Painting videos. Gameplay. All of it. Now when I think about it, I should start the second channel dedicated to Lego. Hmmm...anyway, we'll see if this will help me boost my channel. If not, ah well. It was a fun try.

Looks like I have the honor of making the first comment. I share your enthusiasm for these game(s) and I likewise think they are ingenious for exactly the same reasons -- there's a lot of tactical decision making packed into a mere 36 cards. Moreover, as you say, the game is easy to learn -- if you know ALS, then you instantly know how to play the expansion -- and it is very fast to set up, plays in about 15-20 minutes, and is tactically stimulating without getting too much into 'analysis paralysis'. It also uses a small enough tablespace footprint, and is very portable, so you can play it almost anywhere. With the expansion there are 20 possible theater combos -- ALD, ALE, ALI, ALS, ASD, ASE, ASI, DEA, DEI, DEL, DES, DIA, DIL, DIS, EIA, EIL, EIS, LSD, LSE, LSI -- and given that each player is dealt a different 6 cards out of 18 every time, the replayability is almost endless. The surrender option reminds me of games like backgammon, where you can accept or decline an opponent's offer to double the stakes; or poker, where you can drop early or continue risking more money right through to the final showdown. It's cleverly implemented in ALS, the scoring system of winning 2 games @ 6 points each to get the required 12 for an overall win means that you can compel your opponent to win 3, or even 4, games by surrendering early. In case you're interested, we've experimented with a couple of house rules: 1. Players are dealt 9 cards each, and discard 3 of their choice unseen (these cards are shuffled to form the battle deck). If you know your opponent well, you can potentially guess what they'll discard, and therefore know which cards they hold, eliminating some of the randomness. And if you know your opponent even better, you can potentially guess how they will play the 6 cards that they hold. 2. We've experimented with some options in rewarding a player if they manage to win in ALL 3 theaters: i) The triple-theater winner is dealt 10 cards in the next round, their opponent 8, and then both discard down to the usual 6 cards each; or ii) they discard so that down to 7 and 6 cards respectively. Hence the rewarded player has an additional option at every turn, including the final turn when they hold two cards, and can decide which one to play, and which to discard; or iii) The triple-theater winner gets a number of supplies equal to the median margin of victory in the previous round, e.g. if they won 12-8, 6-5, and 8-3, which are wins of 4, 1 and 5 respectively, then the median win is 4, hence they would get 4 supplies. After seeing the cards dealt them, they may distribute these supplies among the 3 theaters any way that they wish; or iv) the triple-theater winner merely gets to choose which one of the 20 theater combos will be played in the next round. Anyway, there are some ideas for you if you ever get bored and want to try them. :) Thanks for uploading your video. Please take care and stay safe.

What an outstanding comment. Basically a full review. If I could award you some channel honor badge or something, I would. Thank you for all the options and explanations how they work. Some look really interesting. Might have to try some of them.

Thank you :D It is because I don't have a script and I want my videos to be all in one take. And when you match that with English not being my first language, there are outtakes on almost all of my videos. :)

@@calaiart I put them at the end of each video. Very rarely I manage to film everything in one take. :) Check out latest video announcing giveaway. There is a gold mine of bloopers at the end (in comparison to other videos).

if i only have budget for 1 game, which should I buy? ALS or SLS?
@LifeofaBoardGamer
@LifeofaBoardGamer 7 ай бұрын
Depends on what you prefer? ALS is easier, in my opinion. With less complicated and elaborated abilities. SLS is stand-alone expansion so it is mandatory they complicate things a bit. So it might be confusing if you are casual player. But If you would put gun to my head and told me to choose...I would go with ALS. :)

@@LifeofaBoardGamer Thanks for the answer. I ended up getting SLS because the complexity offer longer replayability and the theme is less bloodshed

@@boeta9778 glad I could help. Whatever you choose there is no mistake, in my opinion. And if you are not interested in the base game because of the theme, there is animal version of the game. It's called Critters at War. Practically the same game. Just with animals.

@@LifeofaBoardGamer ah, it has SLS version too, I searched it. Flies lies and supplies. Definitely cute artwork! So far I have: regicide, hanamikoji, fox in the forest, songbirds and this. Any more recommendation for small 2p games but big replayability?

@@boeta9778 oh I have a ton to recommend. It is a war theme but any game from 20-minutes series is a must have 2p game (Blitzkrieg, Caesar, Dogfight). But if that war theme is not your thing...7 Wonders Duel, Schotten Totten (first one, although second one is OK too), Claim is awesome trick taking game for 2 players, Mindbug is an absolute blast and highly underrated game.
