There may not be any studies on soy. But I for sure avoid it. My hormones get really weird including acne breakouts if I’m consuming it. My old Derm told me that soy doesn’t do that. So I tried it again, and got the same effects. Then I went and found a new Derm. I’m sure this is not the case for the majority, but I’d imagine that I’m not the only one. So maybe that’s why it’s spreading through social media. I just wish doctors were more open minded to the actual experiences of people, rather than just dismissive to anything outside of their textbooks or studies. Sure there are not any studies to support certain theories. But that would also mean that there aren’t any studies to disprove it either.

I understand this wholeheartedly. I try to also reassure my patients that their experience is valid, even if there is a mechanism at play we may not yet understand. I always encourage you to do what works best for you and if avoiding something or incorporating another is helpful, by all means!
