What is YOUR favorite question to ask at the end of an interview?

I have an interview coming up and have watched your video to get some good advice for the interview. Thanks for this incredible video! My favorite question is 'What do you want the person in this position to accomplish in the first few weeks or months?'

@@missgiggles9871 Thank you for watching! I agree, I think this is a great question to ask because it gives you a clear idea of what they are expecting you to achieve in the first 30, 60, 90, or even 365 days on the job!

I like to ask (after all the technical stuff) "what attracted you to this company?" Or "what are some of your hobbies etc". My goal is to see whether they have the kind of work life balance I'm hoping to have and see if the things that attracted them to the company are still true now that they're in the role.

Thank you SO much for sharing these tips! I asked a HESITATION question during my interview and the hiring manager shared how brave and bold she thought it was to ask for feedback during an interview. It also kept me from doing what I have always done in the past after an interview, walking away wondering, "What did they think?" I left the interview knowing exactly what they thought AND I was able to craft my thank you message addressing the hesitations. It proved to be effective because I GOT THE JOB!!! Thank you!

Did an interview today. Supervisor spent 10 minutes telling me about their culture, what they do, and what's important to them...and then asked if I had any questions. That's the only thing she asked me. If I hadn't watched this video, I'd have been totally caught off guard. Luckily I did watch this and pre-planned my questions. Forty minutes of conversation later, I have the job. Thank you!

What an interesting interview - was this a second or third interview, or was this the one and only interview? I don't love the hesitation question at the end. As someone who's been the one interviewing before, we're told we can't give any indication one way or the other as to what we think about the candidate we're interviewing. This puts HR in a really bad mood if the candidate doesn't end up getting the job and were told they stood out in the inrterview process. As a person who's also been interviewed, I just accept that if a company doesn't want to hire me, it's their loss and I gave it my best shot. I no longer go into interviews feeling desperate for the job even if I am. If you're too eager, it's a turn off as well because we all know interviews don't always weed out bad employees/employers and can be pretentious. Smile, be professional, be truthful and transparent, and I have found that most interviewers appreciate not having to dance around to make a decision on whether they like you or not. Also keep in mind that YOU are also interviewing them. I don't hide the fact that I'm also looking to see if the employer is a good fit for me.

I had few interviews last week and this week with different companies. I asked them cultural, role-specific and hesitation questions but I still got rejected. But I will ask the questions you mentioned in the video. Nevertheless, I was looking for the questions in the comments, here's for anyone that's doing the same. Questions to ask the interviewers: (that's mentioned in the video) Cultural based: What is your favorite part about working here in this organization Do you love most about your job? What makes people stay with this organization? What are the biggest challenges or opportunities that this organization or department is facing in the next 6 months to a year How would you describe the work environment here? Role-specific: Can you tell me about a typical day or week looks like in this position? What do you want the person this in position to accomplish in their first 30,60 and 90 days ? What challenges or opportunities do you foresee this position taking on in the next 6 months ? How will my performance will be measured in this position? What are the next steps in the interview process? Hesitation: Based on what we talked about today is there anything that is causing you any hesitation about my fit for this position? How do I compare to other candidate that you interview for this role? Do you have any hesitations about my qualifications? Is there anything I can clarify for you? Have I answered all of the questions that you have for me ?

I got the job! Thank you so much. The interviewer decided to end my interview in just 15 minutes as I failed to answer one of the technical questions. When they asked if I had any questions, I asked the first question, "what do you love about your job?". They were surprised and said no one asked them this before. They excitedly answered my question and I tried to blend in and give my own opinions and voila!! The interview was dragged for 1 hour and I got the job!! So please ask these questions and always be energetic and motivated. I'm wishing the best of luck to everyone out there. ❤Thank you so much to you. You did a great job. May God bless you always.

This is definitely helpful. I remember many years ago when I was interviewing, I was about to leave after asking a few simple questions, but then I turned around and asked the man, *"What do you NEED from your associate that the last person in this position didn't give you?"* That stopped him dead in his tracks. I remember he looked shocked and then said no one had ever asked him a question like that before. He then taught me two things with his answer that I never forgot. *1)* Most important are *the three A's: Amiability, Availability, Ability.* He said being a nice person to be around, and Actually Being There (not taking off all the time) was more crucial to him than the skill level. *2)* He said, *"I would rather you ask 100 questions up front than to wait and say you didn't understand the case or project."* Be proactive and make sure you know what is expected of you up front (which is why this brilliant video just taught us!!! 🤗), rather than make excuses later.

Hi Abby! I had a job interview yesterday for a school nurse position and at the end of the interview, when they asked if I had any questions for them, I asked "What is the culture like here?" The assistant superintendent turned to the principal and said: "Oooo...good question!" Then I asked what their favorite part was about working for that district was and he turned to her again with a big smile and said "Wow!" "Great question!" Definitely made it a good experience and lightened the atmosphere.

I also want to know if you got the job! Hope you did, sounds like a positive experience. Personally I'm a but surprised at their (the interviewers) seeming surprise at the good (& necessary!) questions you asked them. For me (having experienced terribly bad work environments and culture in the medical field for 24 years) it's a stressful thing to me to take on new jobs, new roles, new places.. so I ALWAYS want to find out as early as I can what the work/office culture is like to know what I'm in for & whether it's really a good fit for me or potential regret. Sadly, other than "busy" & "fast paced" (which are code for "dysfunctional"), they're never really truthfully forthcoming.

There is no worse feeling than going for a job you need but dont want (call centre, warehouse worker, etc...) and having to put up with the interview "tell us about a time you xyz... whatre your weaknesses? Do you have any questions for us?" like, ditch the mindgames; give me the job!

The "tell me about a time" questions make me want to get up and leave. Not being on heroin or in and out of jail should be enough to alleviate concerns. You're already there because they thought you were at least somewhat qualified, so why are they wasting time with that? Only technical, job related questions should be asked.

Update: I watched your video the day before my interview & incorporated your questions into my interview. 100% the BEST and most effective question I asked was “Based on what we talked about today, what are your concerns about me being a good fit for this role?” This was great because he told me there wasn’t any and I got the job on the spot! That question reduced so much anxiety cause I didn’t just end the interview & have to sit in limbo for days on end wondering if it went well (tbh I don’t really have the experience for the job, so I do think my answers as well as the ending interview questions helped a lot!). @@LifeWorkBalanceis it the bravery & ability to take a risk why people are getting the job with these questions? I haven't watched the video yet.
@LifeWorkBalance
@LifeWorkBalance Ай бұрын
@@naty1012 Not 100% - most of these questions (minus the "hard/hesitation" questions) are truly to get to know the role and the organization (including the people interviewing you) better. They demonstrate interest and enthusiasm in a potential role/organization, which is important. The hard/hesitation questions require a little more courage, bravery, and risk, but they tend to have big payoffs because the interviewers are impressed with people's willingness (and courage) to request feedback in real-time!

I searched but didn't see anyone ask..... after asking the hesitation question- if they give you a reason why they are hesitating, for example maybe they say "the only thing I may be concerned about is your lack of experience in this specific role".... are you then supposed to explain why that won't be a problem? Or should you just receive the feedback. My instinct would be to say something like, "What I lack in experience I make up for in determination and grit!", but I don't want to sound like I am arguing...... Thank you for the helpful videos!

Hi -- career coach, here! 👋 My advice is to not "rebut" the interviewer immediately, but instead respond with another question -- one that is action-orientated. So, to use your example from above, one possible answer might be, "are there any particular duties that you're concerned about my lack of experience in this industry being a problem? I'd love to get specific and see if I can provide any additional context or clarity for you". The secret is: it's not really about 'remedying' any hesitation ... it's about sharing in it. If they say something like, "yes, the inventory management system we use is complex and prone to human error" you could then come back with "gotcha, yeah, I could see how that might make you nervous. Well, I can't speak to that particular system, but I can say generally that I'm a quick study when it comes to digital interfaces and generally have a 'measure twice, cut once' approach to things. (Let's hope you're quick on your feet in that moment, but I think you get the gist).

I just got my job offer this afternoon after consulting this video a few weeks ago during the interview process. One bonus question you could ask during your interview that might not apply to all jobs, but in my interview ended up being a great jumping off point to discuss in depth the future of the business. I basically asked: “this may be a silly question, but what potential role if any do you foresee AI (artificial intelligence) playing for the company over the next 10+ years?” It turns out it was NOT a silly question, and 3 of the hiring managers present at the interview had thoughts, and it was actually something they have given a ton of thought to. Which made me feel like it was a bit of a “flex” since they probably don’t get that question on most interviews, and it ended up with them doing a lot of talking and building great rapport. Thanks again! Great video.

I personally don't understand why I need to ask more questions after I have asked a million questions already. But I do really like that last example question that you gave. It is perfect for wrapping up the interview and it is a question that would be out of place except at the end of an interview. Thanks, I will never have to worry about not having a question at the end of an interview.

Including that this job was an answered prayer for 5 years, I had to definitely work on my part. The interview was very stress free with a cozy ambience. Of course confidence was my ally and weapon. They fell in love and I was hired. Those questions for management are imperative. They knew I was well prepared and stated: "We know you have questions for us so go ahead, we are ready to answer." I watch a lot of KZfaq videos for personal development but rarely ever leave comments. Not this time. I literally found your video minutes before my virtual interview for a behavioral health case manager. I'm stating the position so people can be encouraged that these questions should and probably will work for almost any job. Anyway, I wrote down the questions on 3 note cards and had them close by during the interview. Two managers interviewed me for 60 minutes. I asked two questions from the first two categories. I was tempted but resisted the urge to ask anything from the 3rd category. 😂. I felt confident but not that confident. As another commenter said, you must feel out the interview and go with your gut. Regardless of the outcome, your questions helped me come across as more professional and engaged. I'm sharing your video with everyone I know who's job hunting. Thank you again.

Hi Abby, Thanks for your video. I attended my interview yesterday for a nursery TA role and asked three questions of each type at the end of the interview. Actually, I like the third type the most. I asked them if there is any hesitation about my fit for this role. They told me the truth that I don't have enough working experience with Children. I replied to them that I had a child and I hold a lot of play dates every weekends and I have passion about education. Why do I like this question the most? Because you have you last chance to sell yourself and persuade them to give you the chance. I haven't received the result and they told me they will interview other people so it will take around one week. Thank you.

I remember applying for an airline company and got to third and final round. I think I messed up with the question about whether I had a disagreement with a coworker. I think honesty is not the best policy 😅. Well one of their questions was how many planes they've got. I didn't do any research on that so I just guessed. And at the end of the interview, I couldn't remember what questions I asked them, however, one question that I asked still stuck to this day. I asked them how many planes they have and they all laughed and just said I'll leave that for you to search it up 😂😂😂. Pretty sure they didn't know either. I always try to tell myself I didn't get the job because of that question, but I think it was more the behavioral question about a disagreement with a worker that might have failed me in my interview. 😅

My favorite way to phrase the hesitation question is this: Are there any concerns about me filling this position I could have a final opportunity to address? It's phrased in a way that gives them power resulting in it not coming off as pushy/forced to answer a certain way, because no could me, no there's no concerns, or no you can't have an opportunity to address them.

🙄 I'm guessing you were teacher's pet. Useless question to prompt fictional answer 🤨
