I am doing a powerhead rebuild on my 1999 Mercury 135 HP outboard motor, so I need to remove it from the boat. These are very heavy motors. This one weighs over 400 lbs. I will take you through a step by step process of how I did it.

After my entire life on the water I'm a firm believer when it comes to outboards leave it to the professionals....I'm a lot happier after 5 outboards......Have fun!!😎🥶

What's the fun in that! I'm not happy unless I'm destroying something. That's why I buy cheap stuff. If I mess it up, I'm not out much. Now if was something I actually care about, then off to the professionals it goes. Thanks Wes.

There should be a release valve as well on the tilt and trim to move it manually if a tilt and trim fails. The Throttle cables. One is Throttle and the other is your fwd/Rev shift cable. Ambitious project. Biggest engine I have removed was a 200hp. Always a learning project. Good Luck!

Well that seems to be a lot of work I don't know if I would have done it I shouldn't really don't have the equipment to do it Great job

I will probably buy more equipment to fix the motor than the motor is worth. That's OK though, KZfaq is helping to pay for it 😉.

Where’s Reed when you need him (those lower transom bolts). Glad you got it safely on the stand and you were able to manipulate the trim which would’ve made your life easier earlier 😁👍

Reed has the attention span of a goldfish, so he only pops in here and there. Then he usually grabs some wood and spray paint and starts his own project, which then he needs help with, and I get nothing done.
