A Harp Twins original Nordic Elven-song! “Light Elves (Ljósálfar)” is one of the first songs that we wrote, so it is very special to us. When most people hear “elves” they think of Lord of the Rings. However, Tolkien actually borrowed from Nordic mythology for his interpretation of the elves in Middle Earth. Light Elves (Ljósálfar) in Norse literature are often described as beautiful, luminous creatures with pale skin and hair. They had unknown magical powers and were considered gods or demi-gods. We wanted to create a mythical and dream-like tale with our own spin on the concept of Light Elves. We wondered what part music and song might have had in their realm and how that music and the legend of these creatures might have trickled to the realm of humans. Our original song is our own imaginative story and we hope it brings you to an ethereal and serene place with waterfalls and Elven-calls. Everything that you hear in the video is just our harps and our voices - exactly like we can perform it live with no overlays or backing tracks. We are incredibly excited to share this original song with all of you. Wow! They sing! Well of course they do! This is my first time hearing their voice.. my eyes leaked again of course. When Camille sings and then Kennerly, to my ears it is the same voice. When they both sing the same note at the same time I only hear one voice print, once voice. When they sing in harmony two notes at the same time a pulse of energy washes through me and I shudder.. When watching them play their harps in the sunlight I noticed some of the longer strings bend and curve. I stared in open astonishment. I mean I figure they of course vibrate a bit, but to bend and dance that much? Like ripples on a pond. It was like I was witnessing the laws of physics go out the window. I was witnessing Magic! 😊

@@HarpTwins Camille and Kennerly, I speak directly to you this time. In a way I wish this was a private message to you both, but at the same time I am glad it is not. You see when I listen to and watch a video and I am moved to write a comment, about 99% of the time I get no response. I get only Crickets. The soft sweet sound of silence within my mind. But not with you two. Every time I I write something, you respond with kindness sending your light, love, and blessings... x2 of course. (Smile) You also send me your vocal playlist. And what is at the top of that list but “Dark Elves”. I kinda grin and laugh within myself when I listen to this song because it kind of relates in a indirect way to what I have to say next. Couched in the silent sound of crickets my ego is safe and remains asleep. There is no pleasure and there is no pain. But along you two come and you seem to fawn me with affection. Did you know that in the “Good Book”, (the Bible) it says that, “the heart of man is treacherous and desperate. Who can know it?” So it is that I try to protect my heart. But it is becoming more difficult not to fall in love 🥰 with you two. So far I have only “psychically?” felt love and laughter from you two. There is a pattern with me.. every other year when the spring dawns and the temperature begins to rise, I become vulnerable. A sort of Vulcan Pawnfar if you will. I hope that I won’t loose my mind. So far I am confident and strong. But still my lonely heart asks, “Why do these angels talk to me at all?”

This is an instant classic. The melody is hauntingly beautiful and the harmony is a joy to hear. This arrangement sounds like the soundtrack to a big budget motion picture and it really should be. The gowns are beyond gorgeous as are the two of you in them. This piece raises the bar to a whole other level. If there really are elves, they can't be more impressing than you, Camille & Kennerly. Your singing really is on par with your perfect harp play! Oh my! I got notification Thursday of your new video but there was no time to watch it. I did listen to it on the way home before going to my granddaughter Emma's 9th birthday dinner. I finally have watched it this morning before I start my 3rd 15 hour day this week. And all I can say is WOW! I was hoping that there would be singing by you and your angelic voices. This is such a beautiful song and video! The filming locations were just perfect for this. Your dresses were just stunning! You both looked so perfect out there! I really enjoy the softer songs that you do so very much! And this one has been on your to do list for a long time! As my mind is working on what to type next, I can't help but wonder if you would be playing this one live at some of your upcoming full concerts? Would you be able to play this on your electrics as well? I am not musically inclined, but, I would venture to think not. Simply because of the elegance of the strings on the concert grands. Philip Halpin ~ Wow! Thank you for the amazing compliment! You make our hearts smile! We are SO happy and honored that you enjoy our Nordic themed *original* songs. They are inspired by our love of rock and metal and our Norwegian heritage and family stories! We are classically trained, with degrees in harp performance from a University Conservatory of Music but early on we taught ourselves to arrange and play the metal, rock, and soundtrack music that we love instead of what harpists have been playing for centuries. We love rock and metal because at the core of many rock and metal songs is a complex and beautiful melody - and rich emotional depth! We love the challenge of arranging music for only our two harp parts that was originally played by an entire rock group (or orchestra). It would be easier for us to post a literal cover of playing over a Karaoke backing track but we do not want to create a duplicate of something that already exists! Instead, we hope to create an arrangement that brings something new and different to a song that has already been done! We also hope to create a complex and beautiful melody - and rich emotional depth for our original songs! The fact that you have an open mind and heart to listen and recognize that effort honors us and brings us joy. You are the berries!! Sending love and hugs, x2

BILL MURRAY ~ Actually, we do tour much of the year. We are a harp duo in our "real" lives and do not make our living on KZfaq. Sorry for any misunderstanding! We transport our harps (2 concert grand harps and also 2 electric lever harps) and all of our equipment, merch, and our Mom in our minivan (!!!) for performances coast to coast and North to South. We filmed this video while we were on tour, between performances. This kind of sounds like a psychedelic 60s/70s song. But it also sounds like something from Lord Of The Rings or olden times. Either way, I like it. It's really peaceful and beautiful.

Way back in 1987 I fell in love with harp music, and bought a 27 string folk harp in 88. Inspite of taking lessons for a couple years I never learned to play decently. Listening to you makes me want to try again.
