Just picked this up this weekend at an antiques show. Wanted this to be a quick video, but needed to replace the cap seal in mid-show. If you're impatient, skip to 16:06, but there's good discussion along the way that you may not want to miss.

I think fixing the cap seal added to this - anytime you're fixing these its good for me - thanks

That's in nice condition, another good video. I started off collecting and restoring British brands of stove and lanterns before the Coleman bug bit!

did you do a video on fixing the heaters - I'd like to watch those - I just bought two of them; on accident (haha)

Actually, no I didn't. Thought about it, but didn't record anything. I do have new wicks on order, so maybe I'll do a guest appearance of a "wickie" to show how it works. :)

Nice lite up !!! Curious question, is the filler cap opening threaded on to the fount or is it pressed into it...I have one that was military issue and it has a tiny leak, right where the knurled fill opening is on the fount

As far as I know about the manufacturing process, the threaded fitting is inserted into a hole in the fount. A copper ring is placed around the fitting. The whole fount goes into an oven, where it's heated to the point to where the copper melts and seals the joint. If you have a leak there, brazing would likely be your best solution. I would not use solder as it is very mechanically weak and would likely crack after a few uses...and you don't want a pressurized fuel container to have a leak that close to a fire! Silver solder would be better, but I think brazing is your best solution.

I give up! What is a mosquito coil and where do I get one in Southern California??

It's just a coil of pressed sawdust impregnated with mosquito repellent. It actually works, compared to Citronella candles that just smell nice. Walmart has them. They're really cheap.
