@BenJohnson I know your CONTENT is BTS for creators but you have a phenomenal understanding of “how to” communicate lighting! If I want to apply the same principals of 3 point lighting, color temps and stuff but my goal is not necessarily to shoot a video, rather the goal is to make the apartment look like a moody scene from a movie lol “permanently”. How do you recommend one achieves this goal? SHOULD the same principals be applied? Which light and fixture do you suggest as a key light? LOL imagine
@benjohnsoncreative2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question! Not something I can easily answer in a comment, but know that if it’s from a movie it’s highly controlled and there are many factors that make it look moody. The color grade, the focal length, the angles, etc To achieve a moodier look in person It’s about having less of your main light and more accent lighting Try leaving ceiling lights off, and start by using lamps etc

Your claim, that Daylight color temperature would help to reproduce red and pink colors. Can you proof or show it? I thought, that using gray card for the correct color setting in the camera and color balance card for correcting the final colors, are making the same result at any color light conditions with high CRI. Thank you!
@benjohnsoncreative Жыл бұрын
The grey card is handy when shooting in uncontrolled situations and when you’re trying to match your light to a rooms ambient colors etc When you have full control over all the lights you can set the relationship between the light and camera as you want Just go experiment with it, you’ll see how it starts to shift and such (This is also talking specifically for color rgb led lighting) I have examples of this and much more in my lighting course you can check out here: www.learnvideolighting.com

Sometimes you can get light spill from the red reflecting from walls around your room Also, skin complexions have red, hello, and magenta tones that the lights could be amplifying I’d try experimenting with your white balance to cool it some, and depending on hour editing software you could potentially color grade it to fix it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mdKantyY1p6re3k.html
