I went through FFXIII-2 and LR this year platinum’ing both of them, and am going to be getting FFXIII in the mail sometime soon. What I can say is, the flaws, regardless of how you feel, are very real. Most of the gameplay of XIII-2 and LR is fun and very satisfying when you stagger an enemy and pound them into oblivion. The music is great (though some tracks are annoying imo), the graphics are beautiful, and the overall concept is good. But the dialogue is long, over dramatic, and repetitive, and the story, due to its execution, is convoluted and just straight up nonexistent. Even though the story of FFXIII is in fact quite good, the fact that many people went through the whole game not knowing wtf the villain was even doing stands as a testament as to how badly it was explained. We don’t want poetry and lengthy speeches to explain what is going on. We want simple, cool, and informed lines. Note that if you understood it, which I’m going to assume based how the internet works that you did, it’s not much compared to the many who did not. FFXIII’s battle system is a hassle from what I can recall. The whole “spray” system with things like Aegisol to get through a battle seems to be a bit much, since in older FFs, most positive status ailments only provided a way to make the battle easier, not serve as a way to survive it. It also suffers in that it desperately needs XIII-2’s fluid battle system. A 5 second animation to paradigm shift when MY actions halt but the enemy’s doesn’t is bs. XIII-2 and LR have their own frustrating moments with the same issues, a few that comes to mind for me are XIII-2’s excessive backtracking and a few of LR’s frustrating quests. Like, I reeeeaaally do not need a 5+ minute cutscene about food or this person-who-i-just-met’s dead wife. I’ve never seen an NPC in a dark city in a cemetery wearing shades put so much emotion into a cutscene... I could go on, but I think this is long enough. As for FFXV. I love it. People bitch up a storm about how it is unfinished, but while the DLC episodes I put no real stock into, I quite enjoy getting more FF movies and anime, even if Kingsglaive isn’t a great movie. So yeah. I’d play FFXV any day.

@@CrystalLaser honestly, the games are great ,13s main flaw really is that lightning returns just is the better, more fun game , 13 isnt bad, but similar to 10 , the beginning is a bit tedious , your characters are very weak at the start , for the first 2 chapters you dont gain experience and cant level up , and you dont have abilities besides basic attacks , so all enemies in these areas are heavily scripted to let you win if you occasionally use potions ( or just get lucky with an enemy targetting an ally instead of your main character also , oyu dont need any of the aegisol , deciptisol etc items in 13, as long as you know how to switch paradigms , what roles to ues , theres not really any boss that cant be beaten without these items same with the paradigms, you can learn the timing for shifts , so you always have a full atb bar when switching , and sometimes you just need to swtich in the middle of the last attack so your character finishes their last move and then you can hit the enemy again xv on the other hand was pure trash if you ask me , barely any real gameplay , too much focus on being open world

I'm currently playing through 13 as I did maybe half of the original game before I was disappointed with the lack of exploration. That still exists for me but my real issue with 13 now? It's the auto play combat. You just paradigm shift and hit auto battle and the game does it all for you. However I'm looking in lightning returns here and it actually looks like you need to pick individual skills, like any other jrpg has you do lol. Figures since it was actually tri ace who did this one is why it ended up good! Can't wait to move on from base 13

As long you don't stand in front of his face, you don't have to worry about Physical attacks much except for his flying charge attack.

Yeah, believe it or not, it is actually easier to fight on the second run through, although very possible on the first. On easy mode, I wouldn't be surprised you're not doing the damage you'd hope for. There are a few reasons for this- - On hard mode, you unlock the ability to upgrade weapons, so he can take the 2 garbs he has them on (Being attacker and matrix) to a 4k damage output, taking his capped damage to 5000. - Also on hard mode run through, you can upgrade your abilities to maxed stage 5, or a star Icon, which will do quite a bit more than the max in easy, which is probably somewhere at the lvl 3 area. Can't remember the damage, but Artemis Arrow (heavy Slash) maxed out will do your attack damage x12 with modifyers like deprotect and the like, with Whirlwind Kick (Punt) doing 1x at max. Add to that the Commital rare ability of heavy slash (atk+vigilance boost for 5 sec) adn the damage really adds up. Trust me, While Hard mode is definitely harder, the bigger advantage is the ways in which you can enhance your own abilities. Even normal mode helps. Given his HP only goes up by 3mill in that mode, might be a great middle ground for you to stand the best chance of beating it :) Heh, this is probably way too late to really help, but I thought i'd at least give it a shot. Trust me, it took me ages the first time too :D

Good luck! Aeronite is just a matter of trial and error. Ereshkigal, for me, is much harder.

Doesn't have to be fully upgraded because you are capped at 5000 ATK/MAG. In my case, I have Masamune type weapons so my Attacker & Matrix have it capped at 5k ATK (since no Limit Break). Otherwise, my MAG is about 1200 or so.

its a rare ability of heavy slash it puts these 2 buffs when you attack for 5 secs(sorry for my english)

Cyber Jumpsuit/ Quiet Guardian + Runic Ring + Preta Hood = 100% Immune to Magic Cyber Jumpsuit/ Quiet Guardian + Guard Glove + Ghostly Hood = 100% Immune to Physical Attack. Cyber Jumpsuit/ Quiet Guardian = 15% Physical and Magic Resistance Runic Ring = 10% Magic Resistance Preta Hood = 75% Magic Resistance Guard Glove = 10% Physical Resistance Ghostly Hood = 75% Physical Resistance Thankfully, they all stack. So when combined, you are 100% immune to physical or magic attack. Except for Bosses' Special attack of course. Like Aeronite's Hellfire, you still have to Prefect Guard to avoid any damage.

It is Quiet guardian, preta hood, and the runic ring. For physical it is cyber jumpsuit, ghostly hood and guard glove.😀

Rare synthesis of a star level heavy slash called commital

You'll get a trophy and an item but i don't remember what exactly it's been years since i played this game. But no cutscenes.

I noticed that with quiet guardian and a certain accessory. it pretty much NULLIFIES magic damage. Only downside is, if you use said accessory, you won't be able to dish out damage. You'll pretty much be a tank, but well yeah.

GIGABOWSER3000 Rare Synthesis ability "Committal" gives a 4 second brave and faith when you activate an skill that costs 40 ATB or more. Don't know the mechanic, but they seem to pop up from synthesizingl skils with rare abilities (the yellow ones) together. I've only had Committal come up on Heavy Slash.

All damage was capped to 999k dmg even with Genji gloves

The GA spells are great in taking out groups of enemies, but in terms of keeping the Break/Stagger Wave up, it isn't due to the long recovery time and amount of hits. This is why RA spells are generally better to upkeep the wave. Haste is in the game, but it requires an accessory you should get later on.

They either you died too much or used too many items. Both along with using EP reduce from the score.

There's an outfit that reduces physical and magical damage by 15%, plus accessories that reduce physical or magical damage by the remaining 85% to make you immune to that damage type. If you're in that schema when you're subject to that type of damage, you get the GUARD notification. In this case, the GODDESS MODE schema is set up to be immune to magical damage. They keep their distance to force Aeronite to mostly spam spells, which they can tank damage-free by switching to that schema when the spell's about to hit.

Full Auto Magic Resistance @ 100%; Garb @15% + Accessory @75% + Ring @10%. Switch to this particular garb set up when it cast any magic attacks (so that it will auto Guard).

You'll get the accessories and garbs throughout the days. Might want to refer to an FAQ if you want to know where that specific equip I'm using is found though (sorry I don't remember).

+Adrian Jacobsen No. Whirlwind is a beast because if you perfect time that kick you can do up to 999999 spending very little. Light slash is fine for the 80% of the game but it's not that great for this battle, or at least not better than the monk. If the monk doesn't work then Artemis Arrow is not a bad idea, it's strong but takes too much energy, unless you have a crazy recovery getting items from other fights.

annas dzikrullah Upgrade the ability from level 1 to level 5* with the least consumption of ATP (I think 3ATP per kick).

annas dzikrullah Upgrade kick and learn to use the 'perfect timing', that's the 'ding' you can hear sometimes when he's smashing the buttons with the whirlwind kick and the 'ra' abilities. Perfect timing moves give you a bonus in staggering and damage. One more thing: improve kick from level 1 to 5 so it spends only 3 ATB segments per kick (I don't remember if it was 2 or 3 at level 5 but the improvement is really awesome), that way you can speed up the combats a lot.

Need your "Kick" ability leveled up to max and learn to have good "Just Timing" on all the kicks (priority is the final hit of the kick since that's where the major damage comes from). Then you should have damage as high as mine and even higher (if you can get the Just Timing down with all the kicks).

You can move whichever ability, to whichever slot. Even when locked. You just can't change said locked slot with another ability. I tried it before to be more convenient with certain bosses. I.e. artemis arrow.

It shows you how to do that when you're customizing schemata/garbs. It's pretty self explanatory (not trying to sound pretentious) but it should be square after everything's set up to change which buttons can be used via each. I'll check myself here, for reference in case it's something different.

You can only get Heroic Guard by beating Ereshkigal on hard mode.

ArteRis 99 i made it in my first playtrough. in easy mode, though. All you need is a defensive garb, debuffs, high attack weapon, phoenix downs, potions, and a LOT of concentration. one wrong button could ruin everything.

Ereshkigal drops it.

it usually spawns between days 9 and 12 it can spawn earlier than that but it's rare easiest to get it to spawn is to open the ultimate lair and defeat every last one that way no other enemies can spawn in the dead dunes

Well the final boss is not as tough but certainly is powerful. This is ridiculously negligent on the part of SE and the monster creation in this game. WTF were they thinking making everything throughout the game a breeze then the minute you hit the final bosses they whack you in the face with overwhelmingly overpowered enemies. Nothing up to that point prepares you for the fights we just suddenly get smacked in the face with it. Bravo SE you crossed the idiot line yet again.

***** By Final boss i meant the final god creation boss not the story mode boss. The actual final boss was powerful but was definitely within the capabilities and training of average gamers up to the point. My main grief is the annoying dragon and final god creation which is overpowered as hell. How these people even figured out how to kill these things is beyond me. It takes some serious mastery of the combat system and nothing in the game even comes close to preparing you for it. In that lies my annoyance. Rule number one of any game is never create an enemy so powerful without first preparing players with the knowledge and experience to beat it. Tell me one enemy in the story mode before the final day that even comes remotely close to these 2 and i will stand corrected.

Tell me any game where an optional boss isn't op as fuck,like way beyond the max lvl grinding.

What's actually hilarious is the amount of mistakes you are actually allowed to make during this boss fight is quite high, it may take some practice but realistically it's actually fairly easy for the hardest fight in the game. I'm pretty sure you're just terrible at video games and should probably not play them.

Suggestion. Make sure you have exactly the same set up. That means I guess doing more quests, getting more garbs, or accessories that'd help. Or what not. I'm about to attempt to face him again myself. Got creamed on normal. Funny thing is, he's the last thing I have to do to get platinum (which doesn't really matter, but still....)

Bravery potion or any potions with bravery also to keep it longer you need the accessory that extends the buff at about 20-25%

He's using heroic guard. You have to beat ereshkigal on hard mode to get it. it gives you 95% resist to physical and magic damage
