It's been 17 years since Dimebag Darrell was taken from the rock and metal community. To say he's had an impact on us would be an understatement.
Instead of a top solo or riff video, I decided to do something different by comparing both USA Dean Dimebag DFH models to see which one holds its own as the 'best Dimebag tribute' guitar for its price category. Hope you enjoy it!

Those are awesome guitars man. Dime was and is my hero. I own 6 dean ml variations. They're all string through except for my 2021 DFH. I'm not a big trem fan, but I bit the bullet and went ahead and got one when the lawsuit popped up. It's a killer guitar, but I actually like my 35 anniversary trans Brazilia burst with a DiMarzio super in the neck and a bill Lawrence in the bridge more. I think it's the fact that it has a maple cap and ebony board. That thing is a tank. My DFH has the dimebucker and dime time. Both GREAT pups, but I like the bill Lawrence better than the Duncan for all around playing. However the dimebucker does METAL slightly better. The dime time is one of the most beautiful sounding neck pups I've ever tried. Dean knocked it out of the park with that one. Anyway, I'm rambling. Awsome video man. Sounded really good.

The reason one is top mount and one is recessed is because the original DFH was a hardtail and has a different neck set angle than the recess rout guitar…the top mount is as close to the original in every respect even though not perfect…The recess rout guitar is basically just a paint job on a regular ML

I passed on the first run because they were recessed Floyds. Wound up doing some custom shop Deans instead. Thought about getting the DFH once they did the 2nd run with the top mount Floyds, but had several USA Washburn Dimes by then and much preferred them over the Deans. Now that Elliott is gone I doubt I would ever buy another Dime guitar. Got too much stuff as it is...but the memories of the D.O.A. parties are amazing. Thanks for everything,Elliott. I’ve got 6 usa deans, 4 of them being dime models. It’s amazing how even some of the same spec’d guitars can sound different although in the same ballpark. The dfh is the only one I’m missing since I already got the fbd, southern cross, stealth, and a slime razorback. I never tried a USA Washburn but it’s hard to imagine it being leaps and bounds better than the deans because they’re pretty amazing

Dime was playing all Korean imports that were painted by one of his painter friends( can't remember his name, but not Chewy) and of course pimped out with all USA electronics and German Floyd Rose tremolo. The DFH was going to be the first USA custom shop guitar that he was going to receive and that was going to be released to the public, plus his Clubhouse Razorback guitar.

Dime played USA D3s live from late 94-2004 until he went back to Dean. Some of his Dean imports in Damageplan were painted by his longtime painter Ric Duppstadt who painted many of his guitars like the colors light Dean ML.

@@EricMorettin I've heard several different things about Darrell's Deans the last 2 months of his life. I was under the impression that a couple of the newer MLs he received before he passed were indeed USA customs, the Flame and the Flage especially. Being in a couple of the Dime groups now these days, I've heard that NONE of them were USA, that they didn't have time to get him any USA customs made that all of his new Deans he received before his death were Korean imports that were setup to his personal specs and painted by his personal painter. What do you know about this topic?
@EricMorettin
@EricMorettin Жыл бұрын
@@dylangajdosik964 I've heard they're all Korean made as well, but I'd want to think the dime-o-flage and blue bolt were USA made due to the lack of binding on the guitar, which came standard on the 79 series ML that Dime played onstage with Damageplan. Hard to say unless you see the guitars in person.

I can say I was lucky enough to see Pantera live 5 times here in Canada was at the last show they played at Copps Colisium. Have to say every time I saw them was amazing show to see. I am on the fence about going to see them if they come to this area on the new tour. Can't rerally justify it since is it really Pantera? No Vinnie, no Dime not thinking it really is Pantera plus pretty sure Phil's best days are behind him. Don't get me wrong I love Pantera still to this day and still listen to them regularly and will continue to listen to them for the rest of my life I am and always will be a fan of Pantera. It is great to see videos on these guitars I was never a guitar player on this level I can play a little bit but always more of a bass/drummer more on the drumming side but hard to keep playing all the time when I don't have the space for a kit anymore.

@@rorysteele6476 yeah Dime and Grady experimented a lot.
