In this video I show you how I edit my photos in Lightroom Classic to achieve a film look.
We cover:
1. How to make basic corrections
2. Gentle changes in the tone curve and what the tone curve does
3. How the color mixer can be used to adjust a single color in your image
4. How the color grading tool works and how to use it
5. What calibration does
There are so many ways to edit digital photos to look like film and this is my take :)

Hi, first of all, thank you for the video it was very good. I have a minor recommendation for you and it's to lower the background music while talking it was a little annoying for me. Also just an idea for the next videos and it's that I would like to see your full process after shooting. Like copying an SD card to a computer, then creating a Lightroom catalog (new for every shoot or one catalog for everything), then how you export the photos and what you are exporting for example you export all of the photos only for web to share easily and export full resolution only when you are going to print them and after all of this how you backup your photos.

Wow. I have SO many questions! This was so cool to watch thank you. I saw your Washington photos for LL bean on IG yesterday and I immediately had to check your page for presets but a tutorial is almost better! I love photography so much but I have a really really struggled to find a style. I love so many different styles I cannot decide. I also very much trouble with understanding what the different tools in the editing programs are doing to the photo and so I don't know what to do in order to achieve a certain look that I would like. Since you asked at the end of the video, I would absolutely love more content like this!

Thank you so much for coming here 🤍 Presets are coming soon but I’m so happy you found this helpful. I’ll be releasing a video later this week beginning to break down the panels in Lightroom! It’s so so daunting and there’s so much to know and understand. Hopefully it’ll help you find your style 🤍

@@hannahrheaume ahh you're going to release presets? Amazing! I'll definitely stay tuned for more tutorials I'd love to be able to do what I want on my own but I have a lot more to learn. I've tried to learn about the tone curve but I really just don't understand it. One thing I don't get is how you know what settings to change so that when you go to the next change you're going to make it does what you want. Does that make sense? It seems that you know how change in one setting will affect the changes of the next setting and that is something that is very complicated to me maybe I just don't understand what the different buttons are doing as much as I think i do. 🤷‍♀️

Oh, I also meant to add that I noticed you didn't touch the temperature at the beginning but it looked like it was a little bit more to the blues and I wonder if you shoot kelvin?

And! We didn’t use auto white balance when shooting. Typically for outside, I keep the white balance between 5600K and 5800K so I adjust that manually in camera. I just find it’s more precise to the place than choosing auto. Hope that’s helpful!

@@hannahrheaume yes thank you so much!! So glad I found your channel you are so helpful!! I don't have any photographer friends so this is my way of connecting with other artists and learning. I love love love love love taking photos but I'm just so bad at editing and don't know what direction I want to go and so I avoid it and I have all these photos sitting on drives that I never post anywhere😭 One of my goals this year is to find my style and start posting more, just because I love it.
