The original in the U.K. and still the best with light and sound effects in the Dart Estuary at high tide in frosty weather unsurpassed anywhere, hence a whole 10mins of coverage in this presentation.
Topped and tailed from Paignton to Kingswear by ex-B.R. 4-MT 75014 (Braveheart) and ex-GWR 7-F 4277 (Hercules) both named in preservation.
Four stations are featured and at three, the lights are extinguished for the following reasons:
1). in order to avoid distractions to traffic using Sands Road when leaving Paignton Station, this includes the undercarriage floodlights.
Note: As this detracts from the theme of the event I have not included much of the depart of the un-lit train in the dark.
2). to afford passengers looking out through the windows a better view of the installations at Greenway Halt and Churston Station which feature here on the return leg to Paignton. At these locations the normally multi-colour floodlights are set to blue and remain on.
At Kingswear there is none of the above and therefore, thankfully, all lights remain on to the end of the line.
