Lights sings Siberia a capella just outside of Invuik, NWT as part of her and CBC Music's quest to return the sun to the Arctic Circle. It's Siberia in Canada's version of Siberia :)
This trip finished with a concert at Inuvik's Igloo Church. This was also the first look and listen people got for her new album 'Siberia Acoustic'.
First single, Cactus in the Valley, available March 19th
Siberia Acoustic, available April 30th.

It was -35 during the filming of this. Lights handled it like a pro though. We could only do two takes and I froze my butt off in that time. :)

I'm pretty sure she's actually there, cuz by how she's singing it sounds like she's having trouble keeping a steady breath, because of how many times she pauses. So, she's probably there, which is AMAZING :3

Hi Kira, As I was standing behind the camera on this one I can promise you that shot is 100% natural. The only move we make in this entire shot is a slow pull out. But that was actually done in post. Thanks for watching!

@brionod9695 the trees are just covered in sown, and have you ever been outside in the cold like that. As any Canadian would know the wind in that weather doesn't hit lightly, not to mention there would be no ecoh on her voice outside.

@@IAMAPIRL I think they mentioned in another comment that there wasn't really wind and that it was passing cars idk. Still might be hard for the trees to move with lots of snow on them. And at one point she breathed on her hair and a bit of it froze so I'd say it's real

I can remember, walking out on the snow at night, and the noise of the snow crunching under my ft. could have been heard for a hundred yrds. It was so still...the moon shone on the snow and the snow reflected different colours, pure colours of red yellow, crystal white, purple and blue...and in the morning which was around 10 am...the sun started to come up and the pink colour on the snow and on our faces, I will never forget that...that was 1972

Unusual setting, and nicely done. Lights, If you can sing so sweetly and clearly in -35, I fear you would set my house on fire if you sang there. Please come...I need a new house. LOL, of course. Alas, no green screen Brian, what you see is exactly what was there- this is 'sunrise' which on this day was I think 1:30pm it stayed up for 5 minutes :) The far north is stunning. If you haven't been I highly recommend it.

Did I say this in a prior post? Maybe, but I 'll say it again: I think this shot (in front of the frozen trees) would have been a great album cover for Siberia Acoustic. The shot reminds me of the grey covered Siberia album, so it would have been a neat companion look. The current album cover is very cool too - seems like it was pulled from the "Banner" video.
