The absolute ridiculousness of putting judge over Ohtani in the hall is some WILD bias. A 1.000 OPS hitter who finishes top 5 in cy young. It’s OVER after that.
@snerdterguson18 күн бұрын
He has a .936 OPS, not 1.000 for his career. Only this season is he over 1.000 His only season with a top five in CY (he was 4th) he had an 0.875 OPS. And when he pitched, it was every 6 games. So 5/6 of his games he was a DH, which means he literally was just sitting on the bench waiting for his AB for around 85%-90% of his time in baseball. Meanwhile, Judge has a .595 Slug (10th all time) and a 0.994 OPS (12th all time) and has one of the biggest records in the sport. And when Ohtani had his best season, pitching AND hitting, he rightly lost MVP to the guy with a big lead in fWAR, Aaron Judge. So at their best, Judge wins. Significant Records, Judge wins. Placement on all time leaderboards, Judge wins. That's how you can put Judge over Ohtani. By using facts and not just blindly saying, he can hit AND pitch. Like I said earlier, at least 85% of his career has been spent sitting on the bench while Judge has been playing right and center, with far less days at DH. And he has been a plus defender, probably should have been a GG finalist at least once. I don't get why Ohtani guys have to always act like Judge has no place in the conversation. I wouldn't think it is ridiculous to put Ohtani over Judge. But then, I actually bothered to look into the stats and then comment.

Aaron Judge has a 7.7 career WAR higher than Shohei due to playing 2 more seasons. His rookie year Aaron was a negative WAR. Additionally he said Shohei hasn't won a Cy Young, but he finished 4th in 2022 and was essentially the team's ace. No one expects Shohei to win the Cy Young while batting with essentially a 1.000 OPS, that's too monumental of a task but to do what he has done the last couple of seasons it's crazy that you would put Judge in before Ohtani...especially what he has done for the sport internationally. But Judge is a beast, no doubt about it.

@drexeldragon17234 сағат бұрын
The knock on a guy like Ryan Howard was that he wasn't dominant for long enough and that's why he didn't make the hall but at the start of his career, the dude was an absolute machine and set records for fastest to reach certain HR milestones. Judge has since eclipsed those and is slightly ahead of Howard with his numbers through 940 games. They also both have one MVP and a ROTY. Howard won a ring though and an LCS MVP. If his career ended today, I don't think Judge gets in. He needs to do more. For Ohtani, I believe he is already a lock. We've really never seen someone be so proficient at both pitching and hitting. At least no one alive has. Are there many two-time MVPs not in the Hall? If he gets a third this season, he's definitely a lock...unless of course the whole interpreter betting thing, or some other scandal keeps him out.

Shohei has the arm, the speed on base, the power at the bat. Take it Judge has the power has the most home runs in a season and possibly beat his own home run record but he can't run as fast as Shohei. Judge does have a strong arm and plays the outfield though, I'll give him that. To me it's a coin flip if I had to choose one or the other and either one I'd be okay with. It's not a ridiculous take by Stark. Aaron Judge's biggest issue has always been staying on the field and the question for Ohtani would be has he done enough TODAY in order to make it to the hall? I agree with Jayson that if they both suddenly retired today that neither would make it to Cooperstown. If they both retired today and I had to pick one, I'd choose Ohtani, obviously, as he is an MVP level offensive player AND an above average pitcher.
@sixtynine285621 күн бұрын
Cy Young caliber pitcher when at his best. Top 1-2 hitter in the game when at his best. That's Cooperstown worthy, imo. I challenge the best hitters to take a season off and just pitch as an ace or the best pitchers to just hit as a slugger -- that's the rub with Ohtani.
@manintheglass25421 күн бұрын
@@sixtynine2856 Hasn't done it long enough. I'm sure you watched the video like I did. Ohtani has a couple of poor numbers up there as well.
