As far as peak, I agree with Lil Wayne. Wayne had the higher peak during his run. This is coming from a jay z fan. Heck, I used to argue in favor of Jay Z. But looking back Wayne was on fire. Jay had the clever rhymes and word play but Wayne was a monster. He destroyed the mixtape scene

As someone who’s almost 40…. Lil Wayne definitely should be higher on the list . Back in the day Wayne was on everywhere everyday…his stuff was being played in movies, on the radio, in the club etc . This went on for most of my life lol I couldn’t count on two hands how many times Jayz was banging at the club or on the radio… Heck Akon was running harder for longer to the point of overplayed vs Jay Z lol

Lil Wayne us the greatest rapper alive. He’s out done Jay Z and Eminem multiple times on there own songs. He is the reason the south runs hip hop. He took over New York rap with his bars through Dipset. He also is responsible for Cash Money being the greatest music group. Almost every song he is featured on, he has to go last forever a reason. And he got popular by killing your favorite rappers beat.

Lil Wayne had a Mike Tyson career. During his time, he was untouchable, his highest ceiling was better than any Jay Z era. But after he peaked his later years were rough and average at best. Jay Z had a Floyd Mayweather career. He had the longevity and consistency that kept him on top. He can still get in the booth and give you a great verse.

Some people do step in the way of other artist but drake and nicki made names for themselves in their own right. Other artist did the same but the artist they got behind wasn’t necessarily as good. For example Jayz with Kanye and rhianna they weren’t the only artist he empowered that he worked with. Jay influenced the entire genre including Wayne which is why he was saying he is the best rapper alive since the best rapper retired.

New York started hip hop so they had a hold on the game for a minute. New York fucked up once they started to talk that to much shit about other places. When I was younger I never looked at hip hop by state or regions till the outkast situation. That was the night New York hip hop fucked up. That day made it clear it wasn't just California it was New York don't fuck with no one. But saying all that I can't say a city could fuck with NYC. But the south took over as region easily.

Agree. Wayne hasn't leveled up in subject matter. And at this point, I don't see him doing so. If he does, Jay catalog is too strong for him to compete

Wayne the best easily. Cant even be up for discussion. Wayne has multiply mixtapes of him remixing other peoples songs and literally destroys all of em! Let alone he free styiled the second half or his career. Doesnt write anything. Thats something no other rapper has ever done. Tupac or anyone else has never done that. Dont gete wrong tupac is 2nd but Wayne has done way more and his lyircs are insane!
