One year, for Mother’s Day, my kids went in the woods and dug up a young lilac tree and brought it home for me 🥰. We planted it in the front yard and it blooms beautifully every year! It’s my favorite spring scent!! I do have some flowers soaking in sweet almond oil, can’t wait to use it. Blessings to you!

As a little girl my Grandmother taught us about a Lilac sweets she called it. Pluck a flower off and suck from the stem part. It's sweet and tastes so good. She had two huge Lilac bushes and every spring we would pick one bush for Lilac sweets and for Lilac sugar. She would put the flowers in sugar and we would have sweet tea with Lilac sugar all summer. Great memories. :) I just taught my little nephew, he's 5, this spring and he kept going in his neighbors yard plucking flowers to have himself some Lilac sweets. LOL I got a scolding for that one. I told his parents that its better than candy. Hehe

I have subscribed to your channel for years and have learned much! I recently planted a lilac bush here where I live in WV. In Wyoming where we lived for 20 years I had several lilac bushes. I don’t have lilac in my garden but I enjoyed hearing about the benefits of them. I bought a 3 ring binder, plastic sheet protectors & dividers from the Dollar Tree and started a section on each of the herbs I have, and another section on formulas for use. I think I will divide them by illnesses like cold, fevers, skin care… As I add herbs, I can add to my book and know what I have. Thanks Heidi! Many Blessings!!

@@gardengatesopen This time I happened to see them very early spring in Costco and they were really healthy. The one's I tried before never looked very good (I tried ordering them and picked some up at big box stores but no go). I have an area that's very dappled sunshine so I planted them there with lots of compost, made a dirt moat around each one to keep the water around them and water, water, water. Then I watered with a root stimulator to try to get the roots as well established as I could before the serious heat kicked in. I still have all three but one isn't doing as well as the other two. I've used Miracle Gro fertilizer on them a couple of times but not since it's gotten to be 100°. My violas that I tried to summer over have pretty much died back regardless of how much I watered them so I'm amazed the lilacs are doing so well. ☺️

Wow amazing video! I always appreciate all of your research! I have always enjoyed lilacs. The scent is intoxicating! I had no idea it had so many different health benefits! I had a gorgeous one where I lived and after I moved they chopped it down, it was so devastating because it had the most gorgeous huge blooms on it! It was actually planted on a bank so I am thinking it must have loved it there, I am not sure but I think the soil was a bit of red clay and sandy. Anyways God bless u all! I went to the doc today and my last scan actually showed that the cancer had grown a tiny bit and my blood pressure is dangerously too high and there was a mass in my main artery but they don't know what it is, maybe scar tissue idk. I have to work on my blood pressure and I don't want to take the meds! I also have to take a sleep apnea test. Please pray the tumor shrinks and goes away and my blood pressure goes down, I have tried everything that I can think of. I really appreciate u guys! Thank u again Heidi!

I learn something new every day, I never knew any of this. I have a huge lilac tree in my front yard which sadly suffered an attack by a neighbour with problems last year so I only have flowers at the highest branches but I'm happy to have the scent of them in my bedroom and all through the house. I also have a small one in my back yard which hasn't flowered yet, I believe it's a Korean variety, looking forward to the scent of that also. There are many lilacs around here so I have their scent while working in my garden. Thank God for our sense of smell, I lost mine very briefly during a very brief episode of covid this winter. I am so grateful for all my senses but to be able to savour God's floral creation is one of the joys of our very short summers. Thanks for the information.

My neighbor has a humongous tree in her yard. It’s braided with three different types and colors. Guess I’m going to go in the spring and harvest some. 👍😎

Our lilacs are blooming now, but I’m leaving for a few days. I’m hoping they’ll still be in bloom, when I return, so I can do some of the things you shared! Thank you!!

I live in AZ & I have a lilac bush that I picked up at Tractor Supply a few months ago. I have it growing in a bucket so I can move it with me once I get some land to grow on.

Heidi, this is great! I'm just sorry I found this only now! I have 9 gorgeous lilacs of several different purple hues, a white one, and a pink one. I love them so much and I am so sad when they are gone. I don't know how to make tinctures, lotions, etc. Maybe I will just get the petals dried now and learn how to use them later. Trying to send a picture of my favorite one that was gorgeous this year, but now she's fading!😢😢

mie have been gone for a month or more and didn't last very long this year. they barely opened and were gone so I missed them again. Thank for your vlog. Thanks for info on diabetes as I am diabetic, however my doctor has taken me of all meds but still borderline. didn't know I could use the leaves as i have lots of those. I have used flowers in salad and intended to dehydrate some, but was to lat.

Sadly, between shooting this video and it publishing, all my flowers coming on shriveled up and died because of the cold so I am getting nothing this year after all. So disappointed

Whenever you have an antiparasitic, its also correlated to antiviral and anti-inflammatory. It doesn't exactly work opposite (Tylenol is not an antiparasitic). Pharmaceutical-wise example: hydroxychloroquine is a malaria drug, a parasite, it was used for SARS COV1(2002-2004) and is used for rheumatoid inflammation

We have a huge lilac bush that's at least 50 years old that my grandmother plant goodness knows when. It is very very fragrant. It literally feels like it's closing up my lungs when I ever get near it. The wisteria growing everywhere does the same thing. I love the smell but even as a little girl I couldn't go near it.

My neighbour has a huge lilac tree and allowed me to harvest a bunch of its flowers and leaves. I made a tea using fresh flowers and leaves, and loved it. I also dehydrated enough to fill a 1 litre mason jar to enjoy now that the flowers have all died off. I hope to try more things next year, like infused oil and maybe an infused honey or jam. Can you let me know how to use the seeds?

Thanks so much for this video! I had no idea that lilacs are edible and has so many benefits to offer. I have 3 large lilacs...one is a double. I'm going to see how many are left to collect from.
