Hi and Welcome! I'm Lily and in today's video I am going to show you what my junk mail envelope sorting looks like and my thought process. I'm also going to show you four different pocket styles I make from junk mail envelopes. Of the four different styles I work with I will focus on making two pocket styles today. Working with junk mail envelopes is my favorite thing to do. It's a fun and inexpensive project for all skill levels.

These cute junk mail pockets can be used for more than just Junk Journals. The pockets can be used in lieu of traditional greeting cards as well. You can attach them to a wrapped gift and tuck a nice sentiment in the pocket, it can also be paper clipped to a gift bag, it's a stand alone card and a gift card or money can be placed in the pocket. I've also used them as junk journal toppers and toppers to a handmade greeting card. Use these in planners, diaries, smash books, glue books, scrapbooks, albums, and refrigerator art...so many uses. I also use all junk mail envelopes. I use mine a bit differently. I have a Big Shot and i turn the envelopes inside out and use the pattern paper on the inside to cut flowers and butterflies. I then glue them onto my cards, just lovely. Thought I would pass this on to you.

I love this, Lilian! I feverishly collected every envelope. Now I make booklet type greeting cards (wedding, birthday), and stick in a decorated window envelope... in which I place the gift card or check.

Thank You for all the ideas I'll be going through and getting my envelopes ready. I'm in the process of making journals for my 7 granddaughters. I've accumulated paper ,supplies, cereal boxes, punches, stamps, stickers, paints, inks etc once I'm confident I'll start making my paper inserts. When I found a folder of old mail (from the 1980s) I noticed that almost all the envelopes were still white while other (acidic) papers were brown. I started to save all envelopes from the mail, especially the ones with patterns on the inside to use as top layers on papier maché. Most are black or gray & white, but some are blue or green. I saved colored envelopes, too. So far I haven’t used them, but have quite a stash to use once the weather gets cold & I’m stuck inside. There must be zillions of uses for them. My mom used to cut envelopes to use as scratch paper or shopping lists. She always had a stash by the phone. This was way before people were recycling. It was because she grew up during the Depression & was extremely fruegal.

My mom uses junk mail for notes and shopping lists also. Great way to reuse junk mail. That's quite the vintage collection of 80's junk mail...so cool! Thank you for being here and watching my video.

Try freezing your stubborn Washi tape. Heating can melt the glue and make the decorated side sticky.

I love old photos. When I go to an antique store, I get stuck at the photos. It's fun to find photos that fit a particular themed JJ. It's also sad that they end up for sale, I'm giving them new life! I would love to met your sister, you reference her a lot. Found you while searching for something else, and when I saw junk mail envelopes, I had to watch! I had a box full of them and threw half of them away, lol. But I still have plenty left. I am one of those people you mentioned who stumbled upon this video! I have been saving those pretty, shiny, and colorful envelopes that usually come from a certain place who sends credit card offers. And I have been planning to use them somehow in card making or journaling once I finally get started. I have been collecting supplies for several years now but sadly obstacles in life have gotten in the way each time I am about to start creating and then it doesn't happen. But, I am finally getting really close now! I am super happy to see that I am not the only one who loves to save junk mail envelopes and such to use for other purposes. I am also happy to have found this video sharing ideas on how to use the other kinds of envelopes that I didn't think I could use for anything other than saving receipts in or writing my grocery lists and such on. I don't receive very many of the ones with windows in them, but moving forward I will surely be looking at all of the envelopes I receive in a different light. 😊 I subscribed and clicked on the notification bell and I am looking very forward to watching more of your videos! @@LilianGuerrero thank you so much! I'm not sure why this just now popped up in my notifications, but I am glad that I am seeing it now. And after I wrote this message to you, I discovered that I actually get quite a lot of junk mail envelopes with windows in them. I guess I just never really noticed them before because I was just opening them roughly and then putting them in the trash. I am happy to say, that I now have quite a nice little stash of them started in a little box. All thanks to you! 😊 Have a wonderful weekend!

I get frustrated trying to glue that background book page into the envelope and it NEVER occurred to me to slide it in and fold & glue over the top onto the back!!! Woman! You are genius! Thank you

Just Love the way you use your recycled mail. I save mine too and have made the adorable houses w/ my journals! You are the sweetest and I love your channel! The picture you have in frame, hanging on your wall is wonderful! It picks up your happy personality!! TFS friend! ox Kat

I use the pattern on the inside of these envelopes as accents on my cards. Been doing it for years. It's fun to see how many patterns there are. Loved your video ❤

Eek. More to hoard... lol. My almost teen daughter and i just cut a ton of words, pics and background pieces from magazines I've had almost 10 years....
