From accounts online, the average Dodgers fans LOVED the Hololive event. It brought in a huge crowd, people loved the game and cheered, and the Baseball fans were able to see the Vtuber world and really enjoyed the wacky snarky anime girls.

According to some long time Dodger fans, it was average to slightly above average for these kind of Events. It broke records for Hololive specifically though. Which isn't that hard to do given so far in the West for them. But it is a major step.

Important to note that Baseball is STUPID popular in Japan, so that likely made the project a lot more feasible. Likely far more industry contacts and access. Shohei Ohtani, a Japanese player being a designated hitter for Dodgers is a good example of this cross cultural effect. I imagine getting such projects off the ground for other sports and events is likely a tad more challenging. But we can hope.

I don't know much about Baseball but seeing people slowly joining her singing was really wholesome, like they doubted some random anime stuff showing out of nowhere and then they see that they're fans just like them and are there just enjoying and hyping things up like your everyday person

People normally do sing at the seventh inning stretch (top of the seventh is a short intermission so people can buy snacks meanwhile there is a short show.) - What probably got the Dodgers hyped was the uncertainty, but with Gura singing and then the whole stadium which was at capacity started singing and getting excited. The boys down in the dugouts probably got really moivated to win. And now Gura might now be an unoffical mascot of the Dodgers. (baseball fans are very superstitious people, they wear their lucky socks, hat, shirts with just the right amount of stink etc. so that their team wins.

That's a great point Lilly has. Don't judge I'm a 51 year old man who always thought there was something creepy about men watching Vtubers. I watched the vtube awards to see what the fuss was about. Been down the rabbit hole ever since they are the only thing I watch. Trying to explain they are fully grown women is impossible to some people who don't watch them.

Yeah it's a struggle. It's kind of the same with ASMR, the ASMR community has been trying to explain for years that it's not some weird fetish content and is actually a very wholesome and chill community, it's impossible to explain to someone who doesn't get ASMR why you're watching a woman crinkle plastic bags without it sounding suspicious. People like Heather Feather spent a long time trying to do PR for the medium, and it took several years before people finally started to get it. Then a bunch of onlyfans girls coopted it and dragged the reputation through the mud by ACTUALLY turning it into softcore porn without any actual value as ASMR content by I digress. Stuff like this does really help, when you can point to it and go "look bro it's not weird, she's at dodger stadium." Or Ironmouse giving interviews, because it's such an extreme example, hearing about her illness and how vtubing helped her get out and make a living really helps to make it seem a lot more understandable why people do it and why it's so special.

Fun fact: Gura has broken almost every Vtuber record and continues to make massive milestones for vtubers overall This event was so successful that the merch line extended 2 lines surrounding the entire stadium, breaking sales records for the venue so this will undoubtedly put Vtubers on the map for big corporations Big respect to shylily for bringing attention to this, most indies don’t understand how much hololive pushes the industry forward constantly

Unfortunately for the people in line though, they ran out of merchandise after a while, and didn't have enough manpower assigned to sales people. I saw a few disappointed tweets from people that spent the entirety of the game in line and got nothing from it.

@@artsykero Hololive (and alot of JP companies in general) tend to underestimate the Western market. So I wasn't all that surprised by this. A Dodger fan who has went to many of these kind of Events for their game did say it looked like they hastily put it together, with no clear plans in place. (like decorations for the electronic boards and other things felt a lil lacking compared to other Events) Suggested they could've set a 2nd tent to the 2nd floor of the Stadium as to mitigate the line issue and flooding of ppl. and/or do Giveaway Packages that had codes in them to purchase the merch online (forego the tents)

@@Tahanok2That was the Dodgers fault. Hololive supplied the merch, but sold by the stadium's employees. For it being over 5 hours, there was a lot of merch being sold. Longest in that stadium's history.

I never watched Pomu when she was Pomu because I watched mostly Holo, but after this and that and Mint was in the spotlight, she is such an amazing singer. There are many very small streamers too that have such a good voice. My current one that I love is @Momiji_maru_ But the best I have ever heard is Airi Kanna. Its close but she is even better than Suisei to me.

@@daydream1402 have you heard ironmouse's opera singing? she's surprisingly good. and i mean good good. the new hololive gen has elizabeth too, she's amazing with her vocal range and sings like a diva (on fire). i listened to pomu the other day (thanks again youtube algorithm) and she's actually quite, quite good. nerissa has such a nice high singing tone and can only get better with practice. that's counting just a few off the top of my head, i don't even know how many hidden gems there are among the vtubing community to date. most of them already have a nice voice, so it's always nice to find out they also sing well. gura is undoubtedly my favorite singer, though. not just in the vtubers world, but hands down one of my favorite singers, if not THE favorite singer, ever, period. she's something quite special.

Since Lilly won’t say it I will, realistically this is a collab only a corporation could pull off. A single streamer couldn’t pull off a collab like this because they’re designed around two businesses coming together to tap into each other’s markets You had three different talents participating allowing for a wider variety of promotional spots. Even A List celebrities at most get to throw the opening pitch or sing the national anthem. They don’t have special merch, videos, music, and a drone show when someone like Rihanna or Taylor Swift shows up to sing That’s not to say that indie’s can’t have major collabs with big name companies, but you’ll never see an indie do a collab like this

Dodgers signed a contract with Ohtani for $700 million in 10 years this year. Dodgers' GM said he wanted to make many Japanese Dodgers fans in those 10 years. I think this collaboration also has that purpose.

So happy so see Lily's thoughts on this. Myth was my first obsession and entry into vtubing. Religiously watched as many of Myth streams as I could the first year. Then Council came, Advent and now Justice. Through Myth, I also found about Shylily and I have immense love for both ❤❤❤❤ It made me so teary eyed to see Gura, Suisei and Pekora at such a mainstream space that no concert besides 1st EN concert could have made me feel. Sooo happy for them ❤❤❤

They did it to themselves and they can't even see that. It is entirely Riku's fault as he has no clue what he's doing. He did a buyback to raise the stocks and all that happened was a bunch of people sold. The investors have no faith in him after now closing 4 branches. He will eventually get delisted and have to buy ALL shares or he will continue to do buybacks till he is sole owner and then the company will get dissolved.

also lets be honest the only other groups that sing as huge sports games are celebrities and well known bands. so the fact that hololive is doing it now after only having been around for a few years shows how far and how popular they have become. tho it also shows how boring Hollywood and a lot of singers have become. i mean you almost never see singers singing at sports games. its usually football its done at. maybe soccer idk I don't watch soccer. but baseball which is basically america's founding sport is a massive win and singing such a iconic and nostalgic song.

I was at Denver Fan Expo (formerly comic-con) over the weekend, and there was a Gamer Sups booth with a massive Shylily banner. It was pretty much the only Vtuber oriented thing at the con but I was so proud of my oshi!

IT was a crazy game. I saw it live, and know enough about Baseball, that having 3 freaking home runs by the same dude in a single game is not only very rare, but an exciting game. And they they were still close to losing too. But after Gura sang, the dodgers won 8 to 5. The power of anime is too strong.

Gura has 4.2million sub on KZfaq which is Over a million more than the Dodgers have. Yet, the Dodges have more followers than Gura on Twitter with 3.5 million to Gura's 2.8 million. So for both parties this is a win, and I wouldn't doubt to see Gura's followers on Twitter drastically increase after this. She is the undisputed biggest VTuber in the world. That said, I like plenty of others more than I like Gura though. Shy Lilly, Mori, Kiara, Kronii, Nerrisa, Liz, and Raora, and let's not forget the complete nut case that is Filian. haha

I 100% understand what you are saying. This brings it out to a whole MUCH LARGER group of People who may have never seen or even heard of Gura. It isn't like just opening one door it's like open up 10 for the Vtuber community! This WILL have a possitive effect and more people will understand why people get joy from watching Vtubers create content. It puts a dang Smile on your face! Man, I love Lily, I've seen so many people complaining and bashing hololive for the event. Lily actually understands that hololive growing and reaching into new people will trickle down to her eventually. Let's say this event reaches 1M people, of this 1M people 200k r willing to go on the internet and look for this vtubers, from this 200K, 50K will actually go ahead and watch a stream, than 10K will keep watching, and finally, the KZfaq algorithm will recommend other vtubers clips, which might intice people to watch this vtuber. I love her so much

@@djlovesyou8302 That is incorrect, Gura's cut is close to 50% of the earnings that hololive makes. Dodgers probably got a lot of the cut as well so there is another bit taken off, but still. Don't compare anyone to Gura, she makes a lot more than you think she does apparently. Shylily does amazing for herself enough, but being an indie is tough, it is hard to find the right people to fund your merchandise runs, and that is where most of the money is in.

Gura is my kami-oshi and I 3000% supported this collab and even watched the game with a bunch of others in discord while playing "spot the hololive reference." That being said, I kind of only support these sorts of things _because_ Hololive is corporate since it's fun seeing how far they can push the envelope. But, in my opinion, niche will always be better than mainstream. The closer and closer vtubing inches towards the mainstream, the more restrictive, regulated, diluted and uncreative it will become. Just look at anime now vs anime a decade ago. So, not like I want to gatekeep... but I kinda want to keep the Karens away, so to speak. If that makes any sense.

There's no real need to gatekeep. The Karens and Brittney Venti's are really powerless. They're on twitter which is the smallest social media platform there is. While those loud people get the media attention it's because they stand out. As it ism Mainstream media doesn't really influence the people's opinion no matter what they like to think.
