No box... story of my life really. When I think of the toys I had as a child, and played with, if only I had kept them pristine, in the box, I could retire now... oh, wait a minute, I have retired!

I remember getting a « rocket » from my mum at 12 when using Terence Cuneos article in « Triang Railways - the First ten years » I weathered my pristine brand new Silver Seal Hornby LMS black five into BR 45156 in the last days of steam in 1968! Early Silver Seal black fives are apparently quite sought after today and worth a bit, but I really don’t care, it has given me so much pleasure over the last 48 years! When I’ve got the boxes sure, I hang on to them because they’re part of the model’s "history", but my models are for running so I really don’t care 😂. If I have the choice on ebay between two locos in similar condition, one with box and one without, I’ll take the least expensive. I guess not having the box is also part of its history meaning it has been used and loved.
