If you go to Lourdes (my video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a82gg6eDqaylkmQ.html) it is a very commercial town, definitely the place to go if you want to buy a statue, lots of hotels, not many car spare shops.... I have been to many places where I have to agree, the 'apparitions' and 'miracles' have never harmed the ability to collect cash. However, the trips will be a bit of sightseeing too, and plenty that you can tell your Catholic friends.

Really wonderful to go to that grotto, courtesy of you, Harry. Thank you for sharing it with us . I kind of think that you took us there before but since then I have had a bit of a bang in the old brain area when I fractured my spine and some events are a little more difficult to recall than they used to be 😅 Anyway, it is always truly beautiful to see blessed places like this one and to be reminded of the power and importance of prayer. Your video has paved the way for a peaceful Tuesday...for many of us, I would say. I look forward to more. I am planning a visit , well a revisit actually, to Walsingham in Norfolk later this year...so, more peace in store 🕊️🕯️ Thanks Harry.

I took Nicole to cast her vote, she didn't tell me who she voted for, it is all a bit of a muddle with some candidates dropping out and recommending that their supporters vote for the person they dislike least. I doubt if she voted for the nasty party, although that candidate is likely to win this seat. When I was a nipper I had a bit of a fascination with chimney pots, in fact I still do. I have a nice crown pot in the middle of the lawn that was given to me by a lovely lady some years back. I can just remember a neighbour having a chimney fire and it seemed to be making a sort of roaring noise, presumably by the flames from the burning soot pulling air up from inside the house. It was always fascinating watching our chimney being swept. The sweep would arrive remove the ornaments from the mantle piece, place his sheets over and then replace any heavier ones to keep the sheet in place. Once the brush was in place he would screw more sections and keep pushing, I think there must have been a hole in the sheet for adding more poles or canes until the brush appeared triumphantly from the top of the pot, with a whiff of soot. I think he had a vacuum to remove any soot that might have escaped but I don't ever remember much escaping into the room.
@harryfaber3 күн бұрын
The thing I remember about the chimney sweep was that he had a vacuum cleaner that plugged into the light socket. He did have sheets to cover the fireplace, and we children would be sent out to 'announce' when the brush was sticking out of the pot. I doubt if the sweep needed us to do that, I guess it was just to keep us out of the way.

@harryfaber4 күн бұрын
We get a few military aircraft fly over, the jets generally fly straight and relatively slow (for a jet) but every now and then, they go over a bit quick. Last time, I read the story about how a commercial aircraft had sent a wrong code on the transponder, the French escorted it until they handed it off to the RAF. Sometimes, big transports come through very low and fast, I guess for training, but with the trees all round, you might catch enough of a glimpse to know 'C130' or A400M. No time to swing a camera.

That is odd. I do wonder if they were planted into compost that was too 'rich'. In the past I have had poor crops, but never no crop at all.
@shedbythetracks15 күн бұрын
I've eaten three nice size tomatoes from our single plant so far and I'm waiting for more. Around here you can buy a two-and-a-half-foot tall tomato plant in the spring that has fruit on it for about what it would cost for twenty tomatoes from the store. Of course, the ones from the store taste like base-balls. This year we also have a cherry tomato plant.
@harryfaber15 күн бұрын
Us 'peasants' get our plants in many ways, some save the seed from tomatoes from last year, some buy seed and start them that way, all the garden centers sell plants at all the stages of growth and then we all have a bit of a swap, giving away our surplus plants. One of my neighbours travels about 20 miles to buy plants from a certified 'bio' grower. I have told him that my mate Francois has a 'bio' certificate and lives a lot closer but he is a funny chap, gets his cheese from 3 different shops. Goat cheese from one, soft cheese from another and hard cheese from a third.
@shedbythetracks15 күн бұрын
@@harryfaber I don't have much interest in anything except tomato plants because the produce sold in parking lots around here is so cheap. (also, at the right time of year if you forget to lock your car at the store you may find it filled with zucchini when you return) And it makes me feel good to bypass all the government nonsense. I don't even go into three different isles in the store to buy cheese.

@@shedbythetracks I am a great believer in ignoring government.... Some people build old cars, some model railways, he is 'into' cheese.
