Nice video! Another option for a quicker redirect for MA on SRS/SRT, a Petzl Tibloc and rollclip- super easy and compact and you get the efficiency of a pulley. I have a small elastic cord attaching the Tibloc to the roll clip carabiner your keep them together and store them clipped together. Another even faster option which adds the benifit of a handle, but a little bigger is the climbing technologies hand ascender with a built in side puller that is easy to clip into. It’s called the “quick roll”

Enjoyed the video. Excellent demo on limb walking. Relying on your ropes. Using the climb line as a "third leg"....yes, makes sense. Triangulating your ropes for better work positioning. Super. A1 Avoid slack.

This maybe a silly question, why couldn't set up MA before you starting the limb walk ? That way wouldn't have to adjust the friction hitch on the way back assuming you have enough rope. Just wondering. Thanks for the videos you guys great stuff.

One reason I can see, if you started with MA, you would be stuck with it the whole limb walk out and back. By keeping the hitch or hand ascender/biner you use for MA within reach, you always have the option of removing the MA, like say you want to redirect at any point to another limb, whatever. But there may be times you might indeed want MA the whole walk. Just suit it to the job in hand.

Great video and information. Although I'm curious why a descender was featured being used on a limb walk? Vesus an actual climbing device like a rope wrench, or zigzag?
@Stridertrees

It’s a new device from our sponsor EDELRID, but it’s also a legit climb device that works very nicely for this sort of thing. The one big downside to a descender like the Megawatt is going UP on a long ascents. It’s not as efficient going up as a good SRT setup like a rope runner pro or ZZ but it’s cheaper and every bit as smooth and nice in most other applications.

Can you recommend a mechanical device to climb on that will allow for using a prusik or device for mechanical advantage while limb walking? it seems like most of the them aren't intended for that use.

They did, the changed the riveting process a little, and added a shell over the part where the sticker would sometimes peel away.

I appreciate this, I really do but those limbs are static. Moving out on noodles is a whole other beast. This is very basic stuff.

A Gorilla escaped from the zoo and climbs up the nearest tree, the Gorilla keeper asked the zoo manager, 🤔How are we going to get him down, 🤔The zoo manager says, call the tree surgeon, he will get the Gorilla down 👍. Tree surgeon arrives with his team and quickly makes a risk assessment of the situation, identifying the hazards of the job and what kit he will need. Turns to his team and says, okay I have planned the safest way to take down this Gorilla from this tree, i am going to need a rope and harness, a big net, and a Jack Russell terrier, and a shotgun. Team briefing by the tree surgeon, 👍. ok lads the works plan is, I will climb up the tree , and the Gorilla will see me coming and will climb further up the tree 👍 I will keep climbing up the tree and the Gorilla will see me coming , and he will keep climbing up the tree trying to get away from me. Eventually the branches of the tree will not be strong enough to hold the Gorillas weight and will snap. The Gorilla will fall to the ground, when he does guys, I won’t you to let the Jack Russell go, he will rush in and bite the Gorilla on his bean bag 👍 at this point chuck the net on him and we got him👍😄. That’s a fantastic plan Boss 👍. 🤔but what’s the shotgun for 🤔 Well, if I fall out of the tree 😳. Shoot the Jack Russell!!!
