So…let’s just start with…trees don’t need to be trimmed. “THEY WILL SELF PRUNE” So this is 99% for looks and the Reason trees are trimmed is that it’s the bread and butter Of arborists and people Want their trees to look a certain way. But if you fall in to those categories - get a real arborist. Not a tree trimmer and not your average run o the mill weekend graduate arborist.

I get what you're saying but you got way too much length in your system so it's hard to take you serious? Put a chainsaw in your hands, then show me if want to convince me? I think the problem is your harness. The rope bridge on the front of your harness is adding unnecessary distance.

Hi Josiah! I just wanted to put in a request for you to make more videos explaining how to prune all different types of trees- young, old, conifers, deciduous, for aesthetics, for health, specific tree species, etc. There’s not enough content on properly doing this and I feel like you have the perfect channel to do it.
@Stridertrees
@Stridertrees 15 күн бұрын
That’s a good idea, it’s a bit tough because most every tree species has different recommendations so it ends up being one video per tree type, but I do have a video covering the generalized basics that is pretty consistent across most trees, and I could probably do another and it would be good idea !👍🏼

With the small bend ratio of that ring are both legs of rope carrying the weight of the piece making it double the weight at ring ?

I like to get my throline in the tree, tie my rope on, pull the rope up just over the union i want and then use a bite from my rope to tie i guess a double running bowline around the throw line if thats the best way to explain it, then pull the throwline all the way through so my bowline is at the union and the tail end of my rope is touching the floor, that way i have the least amount of useless tail to work with and its midline attachable like the notch quickie anchor you showed there, personally i prefer base ties for access rather than canopy anchors and then ill set a canopy anchor higher up in the tree once i am already there

I appreciate your reviews. I just want to note that as someone who has lived up and down the west coast my entire life, I would never call the Sierra Nevada's the pacific northwest because there is just such a huge difference between the two. Norcal is a very unique and beautiful place, I don't see too many channels representing that area so IMO you should own it.

It’s saved/made me tens of thousands by allowing me to safely do trees I would have only attempted with a crane previously. Not even counting the numerous times I employed it to make a difficult rigging situation much safer and more controlled potentially saving other property damage or Injury.

Have you ever tried a double undercut using the same method that you are using but just cut to your furthest undercut out towards the tips of each piece being cut. I use this any I know I can't undercut deep enough and I wouldn't be able to get through piece fastest enough to make it land flat. This is the situation that I use this cut in and it never has failed me.

Everyone thinks they need to do this fancy cut thanks to the Internet. It's actually needed .01% of the time. By the way, your notch isn't even level which is something a beginner would know.

@@ericmertz4038 why, the paying customer is the only person I need to impress. I prefer to use my time on the job to get the job done instead of wasting time doing unnecessary cuts just to act like a big shot and do something you seen on tik tok because you think it makes you look experienced. That notch alone proves there's room for improvement. Put time into learning instead of acting like the man, that's how you become the man.

Great n well rounded review! 👌🏻 Much appreciated level of detail. Since you've owned and used quite a few chainsaws i would've liked you to mention why the old ones stopped working and why you opted to go for a _different_ one when looking for a replacement. 👀🧠 I think you're qualified to provide a valid comparison.

It’s called a key slot cut. Not only is it a waste of time because of how long it takes, it’s dangerous because of the possibility of the holding wood from your back cut holding on to the “key”. It can easily twist and snap in a different direction. You could argued the possibility of a barber chair is much higher (debatable). I’ve seen people getting their chainsaw pinched more often than not trying to plunge into the first cut. I will say tho situationally like next to this house it’s nice the “slot” holds the “key” from rolling but you can achieve this same thing with an open face.

I'd like to see a side by side cut demo between this and other top handle saws in your arsenal, gas or electric. I want this saw, it looks like a winner and I'd love to have a top handle. Does it perform ok with smaller batteries? I have one 6ah high output but most of mine are the 5ah standard batteries.
@Stridertrees
@Stridertrees 26 күн бұрын
It won’t run well with the 5 ah and it’ll probably run ok with the 6 ah but it won’t want to make multiple big cuts in quick succession. It will go into overheat protection mode. There are fewer cells in the smaller batteries to provide the current this saw can draw under max capacity, so each cell has to provide more energy therefore they heat up more quickly.

I bought the Makita based on this review. I live in MN and our number one removal is ash trees killed by EAB. Ash is one of the toughest trees to cut through in MN. The 36v makita is worthless here. It stalls out 10 times through a 12" cut. I used it around 10 days on the job. The chain tensioner malfunctioned, then I almost cut myself. The f$@#n' throttle interlock failed. I accidentally hit the throttle twice, which I have never done with any other saws. After testing that the throttle interlock didn't work anymore, I smashed the thing to pieces and tore out the electronics to recycle. absolute garbage
