Im offended that they can say such mean negative reviews on her. She is beautiful and I- just don't get their mind. Poor Esmeralda. 😞

It pisses me off that another reason they’re picking on Esmeralda is because of her face when I first saw her I was shocked they didn’t use her already perfect face from the masquerade but I knew she was going to look better in person than in stock photho s and sure enough she looked WAY better but I keep seeing people complain about her and it PISSES me off be grateful we even got a 16” Esmeralda doll. We might not ever get another one again. Also totally agree the people who complain about her embroidery are the ones who keep them in the box and it’s so dumb like why does it matter she’s not even gonna be opened lmao. I bought mine to keep in the box so it didn’t bother me. Besides it makes sense Esmeralda isn’t embroidered SHE LIVES ON THE STREETS WHERE SHE GONNA AFFORD EXPENSIVE DRESSES LOL. I’m honestly looking forward to meg next year in 2022 even if I’m scared she’ll look like the tragedy Alice is. HER is another story.

I really hope to hear that there is a Kida in 17”. This doll I’m trying to get ( 3rd party like eBay and Mercari) 🤞🏻; her , Meg and Kida are so underutilized. 😢😘 Alice has a lovely looking too that blends modern with the original art too. This would be my 1 of Esmeralda since I was little ( no I don’t still have the other) and for the the Disney 17” dolls so I hope everything goes well.

wait.. this doll is actually so gorgeous!! I'm not super familiar with Disney dolls, but this particular Esmeralda is stunning. I especially love the tassles near the top of the dress, and the embellishments on her skirt. I do prefer the more glam face mold/screening on the Esmeralda in the red dress.

I love the 17 inch dolls that’s my main focus for the Disney limited edition dolls right now. I love Esmeralda I’m so glad I bought her she’s even more gorgeous in person. I’m excited for Alice but even more excited for the Belle release doll because she’s my favorite Disney princess and holds a special place in my heart, don’t get me wrong I love all my 17 inch dolls I started collecting so far.

I appreciate the new face mold, she has a happier look than the masquerade version, BOTH are beautiful. My only complaint is about the Disney product photographer...we can't shop in person, so we need better pics.

I agree with you about bigger dolls. Proportionally, they're a very small part of my collection but the ones I do own are like top-tier. 16" definitely but I also have a CED doll that measures in at 19" tall and boy oh boy is she a stunner. Since you like the bigger dolls so much, have you ever looked into 90's/00's collector lines when 16" dolls were popping and probably laid the groundwork that led to the Disney LE lines. Like Gene Marshall and all of the Tonner lines? There's some insanely gorgeous dolls there, the clothing quality is out of this world, even if the bodies seem a bit rudimentary by modern standards. Very fun to look at online even if you never buy any.

I'm so glad you mentioned that foiling is better for the "flowy" feel of a dancer's skirt! As an ex-dancer...dancing in a thick skirt covered in embroidery would be...yikes. But also...we sell skirts like these in the bohemian/new age store I currently work in...and details like that of this skirt is not created with embroidery in the real life equivalent of these skirts either! Skirts like these are usually silk with printed patterns. Again, as you mentioned, for flow and a weightless quality that drapes, twirls and makes pretty shapes as they move in the air. I just ordered mine yesterday during the European release! I cannot wait for her to arrive!

I only just recently realized how much I love collectors dolls and have been following so many pages on Instagram to follow various collections and just see the beauty of these. However, lately, I've been just getting so frustrated at them for the same reasons you discuss here. Personally, from what I've seen, I agree with you that these are artistic chocies made and not just lazy cost cutting. Embroidery, while very beautiful, can easily clutter a doll and look extremely bulky. Most the original limiited edition dolls had heavier embroidery because the gowns were made using heavy material. It works for the doll because that flower nature wasn't a part of their designs. For their more recent releases, the dolls have a little bit similar and light weight designs. So, copious amounts of embroidery just don't work as well. Personally, I feel like printing on fabric can look just as stunning, but would maybe like some of the details to be highlighted in embroidery. On top of this, a lot of people, I've seen, complained that the gems don't cover the full dress because the sash covers that section up. Again, it makes no sense why they'd complain when I know these choices have been made for the other limited edition dolls they love so much. Typically, not much thought goes into the back or covered areas because the designers of these dolls know they are meant to full adults who will display them. So, why do through the trouble of adding a detail that will never be seen? It just frustrates me because they then want to attack those who actually have no issues with the designs and love them. I thought the Esmeralda design was gorgeous from the beginning. I only had doubts once I saw the vast amounts of negativity

As a Limited edition doll collector in my opinion, she is gorgeuous and unfortunettly all of mine are still in boxes just because of dust reasons lmao But once I am able to keep them a better space I think I'll have an amazing time taking them all of the box and I kinda love how a bunch of people are wanting her now and those were the same people hating on her like a week ago

You make some really good points! I do think the overall quality of the line has gone downhill in recent years. But some people are a little TOO upset about it. I made a post about how I came to appreciate the new Alice doll coming out because of its tribute to Mary Blair's color themes and style (I think you're in that same group). Some of the responses were rough. One guy basically said I was dead wrong for thinking that way and backpedaled with, "why can't anyone accept that we don't like the dolls" when I responded to him. Criticism is fine, disagreements are fine, but lets not act like we have some moral high ground because people like products that you don't lol. Anyways, I was a bit put off by her face in the initial photos and I thought some things could be improved (still do). But she looks AMAZING here, which is to be expected by this point. I really wish I could have gotten her, but I am saving money for a potential doll of Kida from Atlantis and MAYBE Alice. So glad you could get her and she'll be an amazing addition to your collection!

I feel kinda bad for missing out on her. But I’ll try to order her from Disneyland sometime, maybe after Kida.

Esmerelda is the first 17 inch LE doll I've added to my collection and she is absolutely gorgeous! I really love the embroidery on the top half of her dress and the foiling on the bottom I honestly prefer it instead of embroidery because I don't think they may have been able to be as intricate with the details. I still have mine inbox but honestly, I was blown away as to how big she was compared to my midnight masquerade Tiana and yzma. Can't wait to add the 17-inch Alice doll coming out later this month. She is so pretty and I've already started planning on recreating her dress for when I go to Disney World this coming Christmas!

I think she looks beautiful :). I had the original Esmeralda doll when I was a kid and it was one of my favourite dolls. Unfortunately, my mom donated all our dolls to charity shops years ago, so I'm hoping to find one in relatively good condition at some point.

I think the gold thing on her necklace actually IS metal. It sounds like plastic when it hits her chest but when you hold it and tap it with another piece of metal, it sounds like metal to me. Its not important honestly, i was just playing around lol

First question, are you interested in the upcoming Alice doll? I also received Esmeralda this week, I just really appreciated her and was hyped on her all along. I haven’t decided on Alice yet, she’s not a character I’d gravitate towards anyway & I appreciate a unique design but I don’t know if it hits enough for me. not gonna lie I’ve been regretting getting her for a while now since I’m scared I’m not gonna be able to complete my rainbow high doll collection + mine came with a black mark embedded into her skin, but after taking her paper skirt out and the tie holding her hair its made me super happy and greatful to own her because the way her skirt falls is so beautiful

I can see it both ways. The past had a ‘style’ to them (embroidery). It made them seem luxury . The current style has more and smaller details . But if you wanna glance at it from afar. You aren’t going to notice little gems. Plus the man hour argument does not make sense to me . When they’re made by modern day slaves.

She’s a lovely doll and I’m so glad I went ahead and bought her! My only complaint would be the quality control (?) as mine came with a broken chain, the stand was loose (the tie wasn’t put in correctly) and the skirt not being properly attached to the backing; other then that, she is marvellous! I hope the DS pays a bit more attention to that as these aren’t cheap dolls and majority of the stores are closed down (aka online only) and we can’t choose the best one 😅😅

I honestly think embroidery on the skirt would've looked stupid because it's a thin, one layered skirt. It wouldn't make sense or be historically accurate to give her a double layered skirt because that's something only the wealthy would wear as a symbol of status (to show they could afford two layers). Embroidery on a skirt like this would look bulky and it doesn't feel true to Esmeralda. I feel like they made the right choice embroidering her top instead of the skirt. The foil on the skirt is absolutely beautiful in my opinion, and I love those gems. She doesn't look like a low quality doll at all to me. She looks like she stepped out of the movie and into the real world.
