Here we demonstrate a simple trick that can help when needing to pre-tension a rope or for creating mechanical advantage, but there is no gear besides the rope being used.

quick thoughts: you can increase MA by adding another loop at the tree end and pull back toward the sheep shank. In addition if more pull is needed you can insert an object , stick etc, and twist on the ropes which tightens them more than you can pull by hand. great video thanks for posting.

I use this setup alot. In a pinch if you left your gear on the truck you can use your flip line around the tree and steal your caribiner off on of your ropes to clip into the bite of rope and that reduces almost all your friction. Be resourceful stay safe climb high

You made to bights, and secured them with two half hitches. You ended up only using the bottom bight to create the M/A. Is there a purpose for the top bight?

@@BartlettArboristSupply Is there any advantage to this knot over the alpine butterfly?

@@joshstarkey8883 I think this knot is easier to remove that the alpine once it's loaded.
