Lincoln Continental X100 Quick Fix Johnson 1964 1:18 by CMF
SS-100-X was originally a standard 1961 Lincoln Continental four door convertible (model 74A) built by the Ford Motor Company and assembled at the Wixom, Michigan plant. It had a retail price of $7,347 (equivalent to $61,599, as of 2018).
In late December 1963, the car was sent back to Hess & Eisenhardt to be modified further, and was rebuilt from the ground up. For protection, the Lincoln received titanium armor plating, bullet-resistant glass and a bulletproof permanent roof. Solid aluminium rims were also fitted inside the tires to make them flat-proof.
It remained in service for an additional eight years, logging 50,000 miles on the ground and over one million miles being flown to and from its destinations.
The vehicle was equipped with Presidential lap robes and mouton carpeting and a complete communications system including radio patch to the White House. It was replaced in 1967 and remained in service doing less important duties until 1978, when it was retired to the Henry Ford Museum.

Thank you so much, nearing the end of your posting, your description of the 2 incredible vehicles. So good to bestow such wonderful, respectful opinion on the often, maligned. American cars up to 1974 were very safe, luxurious and fast. They deserve fully the respect in words you demonstrate. I hate the name calling, land yacht, yank tank, gas guzzler etc..The car help to make this great nation and it's wonderful generous people. Thanks Mr Gabriel kiwi

If it were diecast, I'd buy without thinking. But it's resin, I won't buy without thinking. When gluing extra parts, I use Faller's Super Expert glue. To avoid any damage and reduce stress, I glue as follows: 1- I examine the part with the hole. 2- Put 1 drop of glue on a glossy paper. 3- Using toothpick's tip, get tiny amount of glue from glossy paper. Less is more in this step. 4- I touch the hole with toothpick's tip. I apply glue to hole, not the part. This avoids unwanted glue spots on a precious piece. 5- Finally I attach the part to hole. That's all! ;)

Those fold-a-way foot rests along the doors were for Secret Service agents to ride along side the Presidents or First Ladies.

Why this model is missing the Lincoln hood ornament ( lincoln logo on the hood)? Btw, Minichamps had made 3 very great versions of the 1/43 scale model of this Kennedy Lincoln : Kennedy X100 Dallas (with figures) , Berlin version ( with figures) and the Quickfix version w/o figures

They covered it after JFK was assassinated, it was completely open when he was shot. This is how it would have looked when LBJ used it hence the Johnson designation.

That is how the vehicle always looked. JFK decided to have the dome removed during the motorcade that day.

Great model to see, the CMF model is offered on Ebay at 270 USD plus the idiot shipping rates Ammy's confront Europeans with of 99 Usd (please learn from the Chinese who send this for not even 20 Euros US of A if you want to export goods). But having bougth spare parts for my Infinity loudspeakers in the states I know this problem is not typical for model cars. Oh I see Modellissimo.de sells it at only 139,95 euro's plus 14,50 euro for delivery to Holland that sounds more like it! I think the details and overall look are awesome. As the assasination of Kennedy is somehow etched in my mind having witnessed it on tv hours after it actually happened, I would rather have seen the model in fully open version as it was on that very tragic event cause that is Lincoln as I remember not the model I see here. Kennedy knew he was in hostile territory and was even advised not to visit Dallas, so going totally open was to say at least daring. And for that money, the Chinese might have thrown in some decent figurines of Kennedy, Jacky and the chauffeur to make the memorial even more realistic. Oh gosh no there were 6 people in the Lincoln: Starting from the the front seat: (1) Will Greer, Protective Service agent, on loan to the Secret Service--Driver; (2) ASAC Roy Kellerman, Secret Service agent in command of President Kennedy's detail; Jump Seat passengers: (3) Mrs. Nellie Connally, First Lady, State of Texas; (4) Gov. John Connally, State of Texas; Rear Seat passengers: (5) Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy, First Lady of the United States; (6) President John F Kennedy, United States. The ladies were seated behind Greer in the order given on the driver's side of the limousine. The gentlemen were seated behind Kellerman in the order given on the passenger's side of the limousine. Minichamps has the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Lincoln X-100 Presidential Parade Limousine - JFK's Trip to Dallas, November 1963 (1:43 Scale)with the figueres in it and totally open.

You need to research your history before doing a diecast review. JFKs car was a 1963 Lincoln convertible. However, you corrected yourself after seeing the printed description on the chassis. But, the comment on how easily the president could be assissinated when the rear portion of the roof was removed was in poor taste. Having been in school at the time of JFKs death as an American, I'm a bit sensitive to such comments. The model is quite impressive from a historical standpoint. Thanks for the review.

The JFK limo, SS-100-X (the "x" was for experimental), was, in fact, a stock 1961 LC convertible. It was stretched by 3' by the Cincinnati firm Hess & Eisenhardt and was 21 feet long. It had a 7-pc. clear acrylic and stainless top which stored in the trunk. It was painted a special blue ("Kennedy" or Midnight Blue, which Kennedy picked out)

Mr. Piotrowski: YOU need to research YOUR history before attempting to correct and shame Mr. Marek. The U.S. Secret Service took delivery of a customized 1961 Lincoln Continental, NOT a 1963 model. Also, Mr. Marek's comments were not in poor taste...he was simply stating a fact that even the Warren Commission acknowledged. If after 56 years you remain highly sensitive regarding the horrible events in Dallas then perhaps you should avoid viewing videos concerning President Kennedy's parade limousine. We suspect you have attempted to Euroshame Mr. Marek and that, Mr. Piotrowski, is in very poor taste. We believe you owe him an apology. Finally, the word is spelled "assassinated." And no, it's not a typo: "i" and "a" are miles apart on any keyboard. Being shamed doesn't feel so good, does it?

It really grinds my gears, when people don't know what the hell they're talking about.. In the front you've got dipped/high beams, no foglights but turn signals instead.. the red lights up front are beacons that hold the same purpose any other government/law enforcement or emergency vehicle would. Then the lights on the a-pillars.. those are spotlights, same found on cop cars. Moving to the back, THE CAR STILL HAS NO FOGLIGHTS.. what you are pointing out are the reverse lights. The singular bulbs housed in red lenses function three-way. Running, brake & turns. Bench seats seated 3 people - even up front. If you look at metallic dyed 'leather' seats from the 60s and 70s, you will find them to be shiny. The model is accurate enough. You're obviously not a native English speaker, so this is not to be nitpicky.. but 'Brou-Gam' cracked me up.. It's 'Broam'.

The Lincolns from the 60s were far superior to the Caddys. Even if this did not have the huge advantage of being a presidential car, I would choose the Lincoln. Also, Caddys were too common and their used values are far lower than those of a Lincoln similar to what you have there.
